Chinese QB board and new upgrades, thoughts appriciated! Pic of first grow included

Hey guys a long time stalker here on the forums and I decided to make an account for my second growth here.

Finished my first one with a 600hps hydro setup a few months ago with a really nice yield. At the end of the growth my bulb went dark and it was most likely the ballast that was gone, had to harvest a week or two earlier then I would have liked. Looking into my second growth now I am wanting to upgrade as I have a bit more idea on what I could improve from the first one. I had heat problems the entire growth and it was a struggle to keep up with it so I want to go into LED as I am led to believe this will drop the temperature a bit compared to a 600hps.

Been checking out the HLG products but they come up a bit to expensive for me so I did some research around and found some interesting Chinese QB boards using the same Samsung technology. I was wondering if any of you guys got some experience with these kinds of brands?

I am thinking of using a 480w running at 60-70% to replace my 600hps

my grow tent area is 120x120x210

The Exhaust fan connected to the carbon scrubber was also insanely loud pitched making me having to sleep in the living room for 3 months so I am now looking to upgrade into a soundless setup as possible and thinking of buying this one:

Added a picture of my first growth (look at the tips near light, they are burnt crispy), and I am hoping this led will be able to make about the same yields from 1 plant

hello bewi, even though the HLG lights are expensive I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have to worry about the quality of the lights.
I have recently done a lot of research on this and most of the LED lights don’t perform as advertised so it’s pretty hard to decide on which brand of lights to get cause at the end of the you might be losing more than you could have saved in the longer run. So it’s better to get something you can count on.

Honestly can't say you helped much as I find mixed information online in regards to the Chinese QB's but there is a lot of good reviews also, and they have the same warranty's provided by HLG and by the looks of it using the same drivers.

Either way if someone had some hands on experience with those boards that would be good to hear some feedback.

also thoughts is it big enough for my grow tent a 480w led or to big?

Don't let people discourage you from buying from China. Hell thats where all these 'USA' companies get their boards. So can you.

Not claiming they are all the same. But the majority of them are all the same components as the big name/price companies.

I could buy 3, lm301 style(550) boards setups for the same price as 1 name brand equal.

Well I don't agree that most US companies get their boards from, some of the later copy cats might but the original ones are not from china.

Not gona sit here and argue past that point though.

You would want the 480 kit run at full for flowering in a 120cm x 120cm tent. Dimmed to around 50% in veg.

As far as the silencer goes, they are not very good at doing anything except muffling the sound of air, if your issue is fan hum then you want a speed controller like a variac. Better off running a bigger fan at half speed than running a small one at max.
Acoustic ducting will make more of a difference than a silencer. But again that's mostly with airflow noise.

I see you wrote your tent size in cm, if your European I can link you a fan that's worth its weight in gold as far as noise goes.

Thanks for responses! Yeah i would appriciate a link to that fan. As i plan on having the tent in my bedroom it would be nice to be able to sleep there!

The setup with silencer is for this TT silent exhaust fan which is mainly air movement sound, not that big of a hum. My old one was noisy af hence my upgrade.

Looking to drop 500-600$ in lightning and ventilation upgrade

Not Meijiu unfortunately which is who I was planning on placing an order with tomorrow. I checked in with them to see if they were still closed till Feb 5th and that's when she told me they won't be going back to work now until Feb 12th, smdh. I'm pretty sure it's related to this coronavirus shit. Reason I checked in with them is because I seen Apple shut down all their China stores and apparently others are joining in. This whole business is starting to get a lil sketchy mang.

Don't know if Kingbrite is still delivering or what. I'm currently waiting on a reply from them. Someone said that they were in the cheap Chinese boards thread but I'm waiting to hear it from the horses mouth before I just make an order and potentially get stuck waiting around with my thumb in my ass. I have a 5x5x7 that I'm dying to get some more watts in so I can get this veg train rolling down the tracks faster. These punk ass t5s I'm using can only do so much and then they're costing me time.

I have both HLG boards as well as one of the Meiju fixtures you listed.
I can't attest to whether the QB clone uses top bin diodes but it definitely grows some dank.
It won't flower a complete 5x5 tent but it will rock a 4x4 all day.
I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Yeah, i also had a 16 day delay on the shipping. Its the chinese new year celebration.

I am ordering a bunch of stuff from there, most with a delay to mid feb. I knew this before ordering tho.

Yeah I didn't though because like I said she said we were good to go right away. I'll probably cancel in the morning and spend the 50ish more dollars to just DIY it all the way with some HLG boards. I don't feel comfortable having my money in limbo that long.
