The world sure is a mixed up place recently. Some official Chinese food for thought deserver its own thread.

Migration from Hong Kong to Canada has soared to levels not seen since 1998, the year after the city’s handover to China, according to new data.
The exodus from the territory comes after Ottawa set up new exit routes for young Hongkongers in response to the crackdown on anti-government protests in 2019 and Beijing’s imposition of a national security law in 2020.

But the flow of Hongkongers to Canada has cascaded through other immigration and visa categories too, the data shows.

China hosts Afghanistan talks as neighbours seek to ease concerns over Taliban

China will host a series of meetings about Afghanistan on Wednesday, featuring representatives of Russia, the US, the Taliban, and South and Central Asian countries, as it ramps up diplomatic engagement with its troubled neighbour.
The meetings in Tunxi, in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, will be a rare instance of officials from Moscow and Washington meeting since Russia invaded Ukraine last month.
The Chinese foreign ministry said on Tuesday that Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special envoy to Afghanistan, would host counterparts from the United States, Russia and Pakistan for the latest “troika plus” talks.

Oh my, old memory. There was a restaurant near where I grew up called the North China. They had a menu item called Shrimp Peking that was oh yes. Shrimp, battered and deep-fried, quenched in a sauce that had much sugar and much garlic. Yummy memories from the 70s.

  • The goal was apparently to ingratiate themselves with the Secret Service, though it is unclear what they had hoped to gain from that
  • Since 2020, charging documents allege, they supplied Secret Service agents with rent-free luxury apartments, high-end electronics and policing equipment
  • In one instance, Taherzadeh even allegedly offered a member of First Lady Jill Biden's security detail with a $2,000 assault rifle
  • And in another, they supplied an agent with a penthouse apartment valued at more than $40,000 a year
  • Four members of the Secret Service have now been placed on leave as the investigation continues

It has to have Egg Rolls and Chinese Hot Mustard or I don't eat there.

I love Broccoli Beef., Sweet and Sour ( whatever is fresh)
I like the white rice but will go with what fried rice they have if not.
