Chinese Take Out.

I’ve had some seriously interesting conversations w Chinese restaurant employees (my regular order: hot+sour soup for two & a plate of Kuo-ta chicken).

One started when a server saw what I was reading (might have been the Dao de Jing). She was confused because I was interested in such a thing: “your god won, why you look at this stuff? Are you making fun? I’m a Christian and I come to America tobecause it’s home to the best god”…that one lasted a while (fortunately,I’m a slow eater).

Another server, a stunning woman from Malaysia, after seeing me eat alone most of the time, told me I should move to Malaysia: “in my country, man is king, You lonely here, you go to my country, be surrounded by girls, beautiful girls, be king….” That one was…outside my experience

Saw something like that at a Thai store two hours from me.
Love the French; bespeaks Indochina.
You have to go two hours to find a Thai store? That sucks. I'm in walking distance of at least a dozen Asian markets. Several are large grocery stores that carry everything from Thai, Korean, Philippine, Chinese, Japanese, etc... I guess that's why my cupboards are 75% Asian ingredients.

I live in the desert, so gotta drive about an hour each way to do Walmart.
But my view west rocks.
Unfortunately, the Zon charges an arm and a leg for many foods.

The good thing about being far away is you don't have to deal with all the people. It's nice having things so close by but I'd much rather live out of the city with just my lady and my dogs on a piece of land.

It has compensations. The clouds can be beautiful.

This Friday a Falcon 9 launches from Vandenberg. I know just where to train the 20x100s to see the orange boost flare. Hearing the launch live on Yputube really helps. At T+25 or so, the stack gets above the mountains. Sometimes there’s a contrail right around max Q.
