CHOOSING SEEDS....Spoilt for Choice!

Despite having a three area perpetual grow system that runs smoothly and is self contained, I still have the urge to buy and germinate lots and lots of different strains of seed!

There are SO many different breeders advertising various strains that it wouldn't be possible (even with enough cash to buy them all) to attempt to grow them all.
And, once you've found a winner, it's best to keep her under 18/6 CFL's (4600k) as a CLONE MOTHER and, instead of using that seed to grow ONE PLANT FOR ONE HARVEST, take TEN CUTTINGS and GROW TEN CLONES.
(I'm not sure how many cuttings can be taken from a CLOSET CLONE MOTHER at one time?).

The seeds that have caught my attention are:
DINAFEM CRITICAL + because it has been strongly recommended to me by someone who's opinion carried great weight.

T H SEEDS CRITICAL HOG
The Video clip advertising has me sold. Darkstar with a 22% THC content
and Critical Hog which is 'easy to grow with a huge yield'.
They both look AMAZING on the T H SEEDS grow room (more like an aerodome!) video.
WRECKAGE, AKORN 'SNOWBUD' and 'UNDERDOG' also attract me very much.

SENSI SEEDS SUPER SKUNK
Pure nostalgia has me wanting this stain FROM these people.
22 years ago I was an 18 year old in Amsterdam for the first time and the SENSI SEEDS logo brings back fond memories
(although fragmentary and broken memories - due to the SUPER SKUNK).
The sheer expense of the SENSI SEEDS ED ROSENTHAL and JACK HERER strains also have me intrigued
But the lack of any forum chatter or grapevine reviews discourages me from paying $200 for ten seeds.
My logic being that, if they were as good as the hype advertising claimed, then there would be THOUSANDS OF THREADS devoted to praising them.

There are certain strains that get mentioned in threads again and again,
But Sensi Seeds ED ROSENTHAL and JACK HERER aren't two of them.

WHAT SEEDS APPEAL TO YOU
and WHY???
It can be due to actual experience
or, like myself, advertising, research and recommendations.

critical +, by itself isn't the greatest strain according to what i've read as it doesn't have the best flavor or potency, but it's good for increasing cola sizes and speeding sativas up. it's not a terrible strain, but it's more about bud size than quality. it's based on big bud which many consider to be an overrated strain, and according to cannabible, no one has REAL big bud anyways.

critical + really shines in crosses though where other strains have better buzzes and flavors but are in need of potency and yield increases.

try and look grow and smoke repoets up for everything. i haven't read up on the other strains and only took interest in critical + because it's used in jack herer and haze crosses, so my interest was just in passing and what i read didn't make it sound like a cannabis cup winner as much as a cash cropper favorite

Avoid critical hog, Grew a couple freebies and both hermied on me late.

Beans that appeal to me usually have the following:
Breeder has a stellar reputation and is honest in their breeding practices.
Not chasing flavor of the week. No point in spending a bunch of cash on S1s.
Doesn't spend more on advertising then their production.
Solid genetics, tested gear and hermied less (minus land race Thais and what not).
Fits the type of grow I want to have.

Live in a country that as some great clone only why not source one?

As for buying seeds its never good to go buy the seller unless their is alot of research on them. As its their job to sell it to you with any many, noone to take to court for miss advertiseing
Most of the seed companies that just allow their seeds to sell themselfs have the best genetics. Look at Mr nice seeds
Only reason the top 10 are normaly a dutch seedbank is because their the only ones that can manage a
vast amount to sell as most of the best seeds only ever drop in small amounts .


The only time i can agree with hazey is here and thats because he read it somewhere not from exp.
Critical+ is medium to low end smoke just vast amounts of it

This country may have some good grass
But it also has its fair share of grasses!

I pnly ever heard one thing about Mr Nice seeds.
A guy bought 3
1 failed and 2 hermied.

Howard Marx is an interesting bloke but I wouldn't buy a used car off him.

Personaly wouldnt know much about Howard being a breeder Hes a front man for a guy that likes being at the back making plants grow and look good rather than selling seeds
(used to before all this 24/7 phone cam stuff), But Shantibaba the breeder as more trophies for his most famous strains than any other. As most of the cups after have been won with one or more of his varieties.
Look at greenhouse originals. All bred and worked buy Shanti before taking his stuff with him to Mr nice seedbank.

As for hermies and dead seeds. mmm ever thought the seeds might not of been what was ordered?
Plus hermies can come from any seed
Mr nice gives more than 15 seeds in his packs so plenty of room to find that gem.

most of the strains or parents in the strains above will have come from the MNS bibliotech

80+% of Dinafem (any spanish seedbank) back bone strains are from MNS seed he give away between 06-08

Black widow (original) = White widow
Super Silver Haze = SSH
Medicine man = White rhino

but now I see Howard and feel the air go out of me.

I have been running critical hog and have had nothing but awesome finished prduct,i am also on my 3rd cycle of darkstar and very impressed as well, I definatly can't say anything bad 'bout T.H. ...I have a couple other's I haven't cracked yet... I definatly have that same PROBLEM!!!!! "wanting to germ some new strains!" I've got 19 going now and 'bout 24 I haven't run yet. So hard staying ot of them! Right now.....Green poison,darkstar,G.Daddy Purp,W. widow,G.W. shark, cheese,sour diesl #2,L.A. chocolat,Bay 11,blue hash,blue widow, PExpress,Crit. jack herer,Blue o.g.,..The Ultimate,.... ummm can't think anymore ! But I feel your pain brother!

Id be weary of th...i've heard alot of mixed reviews and also their freebie was the only that didn't Pop for me..greenhouse is straight garbage imo...also spoilt is definitely not a word, grinds my gears lol

It's probably best to avoid arguing semantics, linguistics or philology with me.
You'll end up hurt and bitter, quivering on the floor in a corner of a cold, lonely room, wondering why you even tried.

Next time, before you question the validity of my vocabulary, spend thirty seconds doing a Google search,
That way you'll be sure you're not talking shit.

Ok well its a stupid word...and anyway you still used it wrong I wasn't just talking shit, I could tell it was wrong and it bothered me so I said something lol... it should be spoiled as I originally thought, spoilt is the past tense of spoiled so since you haven't bought the beans yet and still have the choice you are spoiled with choices as opposed to if you had already bought them in which case you would have been spoilt with choices...what was that about quivering on the floor :twisted: .....i'm just messing around bored don't let this derail your thread guys my bad

Perhaps some bodhi, snowhigh, Sannies, ACE,ect could be considered if you want something great. They seem to have nice options. Most are less than Sensi, TH and even Mr Nice. Even gage green has good reviews.

Spoilt the word, learn something everyday. Never use that word, it must be an oldy.

I grew a fem Seedsman Skunk and was quite happy with the plant and the smoke. It is sweet tasting not skunky though. 10 regulars are lots cheaper than others around and these are Sam the Skunkman genetics, the original creator.
