Chop journal

Edit; I got something for it. It is a 2x2x3 for clones/seedlings or hang drying. Following the suggested. Pc fan for exaust on a dial. 6” fan scattering dead air. Hygro meter taped to window of tent. Hang until the hygrometer reads close to 55rh. Ambient temps close to 60f and 50rh. Trim after drying. Then stash in mylar zip bags 1 gallon. That will store it for long term.

How long do they store for just about, and when is it ok to open it for a test sample or smell?

I keep wondering about ambient RH. I understood that at first it produces its own RH and ambient RH can be below 55rh but what about during trimming?

Simple guess is put on a humidifier if needed. Not to over think but it keeps saying “curing stops at 55rh and cannot be restarted.” Avoiding trimming in flower room as RH is 35%.

Tonight marks start of week 20. It is ripe everywhere over the top. I guessed easily when they would turn orange given I said they did overnight after most of the bud was ripened. So I can guess end of week 20 I should be able to chop the visable canopy if not already done.

This would rid of the harsh fan leaves which you can already see I removed a few and exposed the inner canopy which is still very green. Should allow for patience finishing the lower canopy with extra air flow and light. Should be less anxious waiting out the rest.

This way I harvest correctly and got back everything the plant could give. It still has select white hair sites as shown though or else I would chop the smaller colas too. Any comments, tips are welcome.

Holy foxtail
Too much heat I assume ?
I would chop immediately

Yes. 3x3 led light in a 2x2. Dry back that I fixed with autofeed. Ran out of height. Lessons learned. Aside from that all else was going well. Chop right now? Thats what I would love to hear but white hairs where rampid if you see last week’s photos and so on.

Now I am stuck in between, had my mind set on chopping when ripe and ready even if it meant in sections. Is it at least in the window that some white hairs are ok?

White hairs on foxtail buds is a constant
Potency will not improve from here on out

It had white hairs everywhere, even in areas of shaded buds that were growing normally. I think I barely passed the last two week fattening/ripening phase. What if you dialed the lighting back to finish where it needed to be? Is it just that once it triggers it is a wrap?

I am a bit lost now, everyone tells people to wait when they see a certain sign of growth still present and I feel like it is just now truly finishing.

Please explain more, this grow could be chopped today if I just understood why this plant seems to be just now finishing but appearently was done weeks ago.

foxtails go on forever

foxtails go on forever

Thing is, they are finished in many areas and the rest is finishing up over night in many areas. Almost the entire visible canopy.

I guess this is beyond my skills to harvest correctly already, but I am positive I have extra yield for waiting. Buds kept swelling.

Are you saying the condition will also trigger white hairs to grow in select places? I was assuming the larfy areas of the bottom of canopy was taking longer because it is larf that swelled up to be 1-3g nugs or become the bottom of a cola as long as my arm.

But that doesn’t explain why they are in areas of buds that were ready for chop seemingly.

As I understand it, once the condition is triggered it can pop up in random places and seem like it needs a few more days which can force you to pass the window of harvest to preserve most of your goods.

Here is how it looked a month & 1/2 ago. I may very well harvest it this weekend then.

I hate to just do something without giving it time for extra input. Had the member suggested this a few days ago I would of saved 50$ on a harvest tent and just chopped in one under this exception.

It is still on the table to let it finish as much as possible down below and use my harvest tent after all which I am down with to feel better about putting wasted goods to use.

You know what though I seen many sites double or triple in size in the last month and half.

I just cut the whole stem to remove the whole cola and this was the cola below the one I removed. I dont see mold, just under lit buds. I guess it is part of the game, you spot it, chunk it and be relieved it did not spread, I do not see anything else where.

I am sure it is still good, just a huge downside to the yield that there are spores everywhere now. Might lose the whole harvest it it rots during curing, idk. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I know dispensaries do not trash a whole crop over it, maybe they do, let me know. Got nothing to lose at this point.

You can search bud wash, that will kill any spores.Cut the buds and dip and swish in 2gal water with a cup of peroxide. Then swish in plain water ,then drip dry before hanging to dry as normal.GL

Just woke up forgetting to empty dehuey and 82%RH. How I haven’t got budrot yet is beyond me. Damn this really sets me off, mad at myself.
nip it in the butt, run the dehu to a pump and this will never happen again (unless the pump fails) Some pumps have leads that you can wire to shut off the dehu (if the dehu has a float switch terminal on it)

Also a temp humidity wifi data logger is a great gadget. I think I just saw inkbird has them on sale for less than 20$ (usually 30$) for one sensor. It would alert your phone if you set it up right if your parameters go out of whatever range you set them to. It would be great to prevent issues

I dont understand why I didn't by my regular Inkbird sooner, makes my life so much easier! It feels cheap like cheap plastic but you can always just change out the cables and sockets in the future(at least that what I'm going to do). They regular one alert when they get out of range with a beeper!

Lets get this party started! About to chop it all in just a few mins and start posting what the insides look like and hopefully not come across more of that of which we do not speak.

This is awful, just all trash. Most of it. Never had to look out for mold before and now I have the harshest way of figuring it out.
