lol. ita alright. its the thought that counts. =D and between 2-4 weeks. lol. havent completely decided yet.. i wanna try to go for 10 weeks.. but ughhh... its just so long. lol. idk if ima be able to do it!! might either go right in th emiddle.. adnm harvest at 9.. or do 1/2 the plant at 8 weeks.. and the other 1/2 at 10.

depends on how big/ready she looks at 8 weeks.

Heyyyo Chris man, ok I have a confesion. I started some WW a little while back in the middle of may and even though I was excited to get it going, I was embarresed at the same time because out of the 5 that sprouted, only 2 lived so and I wasn't sure if they would live or not so I just held off on a journal or anything. But here it is about 3 weeks later and they are still alive! Thank goodness. But now I'm worried I'm doing something wrong because most other pics I see of plants that are 3 weeks old are a lot bigger and have a ton more leaves than mine. I couldn't image flowering them in a week or so b/c thier so small. Also, out of the 2 that lived, there's a huge difference in the way they look, WW1 looks normal looking with thinnish leaves and equal leaf growth, while WW2 has rounder leaves and is kinda lopsides...? Is this normal or are they probably different strains?

Well, I'll give a short rundown of the setup so maybe you can spot anything I'm doing wrong.

Strain - GH WW
Nutrients - General Hydroponics Flora 3 Series
Hydro setup - Bubbleponic, 10 gallon res w/ 6 gallons of water, using 2 10" air stones and a water pump to the net pots
Medium - Hydroton rocks
pH - 5.5 to 6.5 (using GH up & down to regular, so far pH only goes up)
ppm - currently at 445 (also seems to go up)
Room temp - 68F @ night & 80F @ day
Res temp - 68F-72F (controlling with frozen water bottles)
Humidity 35-50% (Could raising humidity help much?)
Water - Began with tap water but had terrible pH troubles so swithed to distilled water and pH stabilized (could be reason behind the problem)
Lighting - 400watt MH, started about 4 or 5 ft. away @ 24hrs of light for a week then switched to 18/6hrs and brought to 1ft. away
Ventilation - a supply from the a/c on one end of the room being blown towards the plants by ocilating fan and a exhaust window fan about 1ft from the plants (keeping the day and night temps very stable)
Roots - have established under the net pots and are now in the water (the problem plant actually has longer roots than the healthy looking plant)
C02 - Im using the homemade C02 that you and others have described that works well. I just added the c02 a couple days ago.

And heres a few pictures, definely not as good as yours, like I said I cant take good pics for some reason lol, if its to blury, let me know and I'll try to get better shots.

hahaha.. naa man. nefverbe embarassed of ur grow..especially ur FIRST grow. =) and wow man.. they actually look GREAT!! they have a really nice size stem.. nice and fat and its long enough too.. the leaves are a really nice shade green.. the plant isnt stretching at all either.. its stayin nice and short, but bushy. and you already have sum side branching going on as well!! I honestly dont have anythign bad to say at all. they look awesome!! even the pics!! u tried sayin u couldnt take good pics!!! lol. those pics are great man. =) good quality.. and very good description of your whole setup.... wow.. im VERY impressed man. =D

and Hydroponics isnt really my area soo as far as all that stuff goes... it seems good to me from what i've seen.. but dont quote me on that. lol. but from the looks of it. your plants are happy. =)

one tip I can give ya to maybe hellp increase ur yield a lil (even if u dont do this you'll have a nice yield) if u have any CFL's.. even if they like the small 13 watters.. if u can put maybe one on one side.. and another on the the side of the plant.. that will help alot in the long run... cuz u see those lil branches startin to form and branch off?? if u can get sum extra light on them sumhow.. that will make them grow healthier and faster and bigger. =)

but like i said.. if u dont have them.. do not worry about it at all!! everything looks GREAT!

and as far as the leaves lookin a lil different.. thats fine man. =) thats just different "phenotypes" or "phenos".. its the same strain... just a different type.. tryna think of how 2 explain it.. idk alotta plants have more than 1 pheno.. like u can get 10 WW seeds... and some may grow a lil taller.. and lankier.. and others will jsut grow shorted and bushier.. or sumthin like tat. all plants are like that.. sum have more than others... some phenos are better than others.. sum some phenos of bubblegum.. have the bubblegum taste.. (hence the name. lol) but other are lacking th ebubblegum taste.. soo most people will grow until they get that certain pheno they want.. and then clone it.. or use it to breed. =)

hope some of that helps. hahaha. man.. im wicked impressed tho. =) you have deff learned ALOT since u 1st started postin on my last journal. =) anything else u need help with man... dont hesitate to ask. =)) and lemme know ASAP.. wen u start a journal. =)

I never thought I would be at this point, I use to daydream about it and thought how coo it would be to actually grow some instead of the same old game of buying the cheap stuff around here. All I know it by is dirt or swag or bullshit lol But anyway, thanks for the encouragement man, your definitley one of the people that inspired and showed me a lot about it. If it wasn't for people like you, I wouldn't have known where to begin!

Whew, you saying they look ok makes me feel a lot better! I duno why Im thinkin they are really small...So their on track for 3 weeks old? (size wize) My main concern is if they will be big enough to takes clones and stuff from. Man I did a lot of reading on topping and it seems to be a good thing to do but I just cant seem to figure out where to cut exatly?? Do you cut it at the top where theres 3 sprouts of growth and cut all the way through all 3 sprouts....or do you cut just the center node of the 3 growth sprouts?? I will try to take a pic of where I mean if needed?

Thanks for the tip on getting side lighting, that sounds like a good idea, even as small as they are, I can already see the bottom leaves being shaded so I bet any extra light to those will help, I'll see what I can do on that! I have a 600watt hps for flowering, I wonder if hanging that one vertically beside them would be to much? What do you think, would a few CFLS on the sides be better? the 600watt would only cover 1 side to...unless I turn the tub around ever now and then or somethin?

That makes me feel better too, knowing thier not mutated or somethin lol Its actually kinda coo to have one a lil different from the other but still the same strain. Thats another thing that worried me about the size, the roots have been in the water for a while now

Oh, heyyo Chris, I was wonderin, what light cyle do you use to veg? I've been using 18/6 but thinking of going to 20/4 or 24/7 to try and increase growth speed?

But I figured if anyone could help it would be the man getting over 3o's from 1 plant with CFLs!! woohoo cant wait to see this next WW that vegged for 5 weeks. Man I hope mine get that big but they will have to do a lotta growin in the next 2 weeks if thats gonna happen lol

thanks man. =) im hopin for it.. these buds just needa fatten up sum more.. i was lookin at the old plant (at 8 weeks) and comparin it to this plant... and im gettin nervous now.. that the harvest wont be as much.. i thought FOR SURE it would.. since i let it go a week 1/2 longer in veg AND FIM'ed it..? =/ we'll see.alot can happen in 2-3 weeks.. soo we'll wait and see. the smell is a lil different this time.. not as fruity.. adn more of a skunky weed smell.. but deff still the "fruity pebble" smell... lol

and thanks.. im thinking about at the very end of the grow.. makin a slideshow with pics from each week. =)

Dammmmnnnn, those buds are covered in red hairs!!! It looks super good to me, really fresh looking, like it was just pulled from the stem or somethin....lol Yall enjoy the ride man! If you can, see how it compares to the first WW and how it compares as a early pulled bud. Geez I love smoke reports and hearin how stuff smokes lol Gets me all excited

yeaaa, growing is VERY VERY fun. =) it becomes addicting really fast hahaha. and yeaa htats how it is around here.. all mids and shit.. or the good stuff is rediculously expensive.. like $10 for .5 or .6... =/fucjjj thattt, lol

lol. na i mean theyre a little small.. but ive seen plenty of ppl's grows that were around the size.. sum just start off slow... and once they start flowering.. they friggin look like theyre on steroids or something. lmao. and yea they look fine.. maybe a little small... but nothin bad. =)

Yeaa I FIM'ed mine.. its pretty mcuh the same thing as topping.. its pretty easy actually.. topping... you just go to the very top of the plant.. where the new growth is starting.. and cut it off. =) simple as that.. and FIM'ing.. is almsot the same.. except u go to the top of the plant.. find the new growth.. and cut about 3/4 of the new growth off.. and leave the lil bit there.

but yea if u want.. u can take a pic.. and then open it up in paint.. and make a circle where u think u should cut.. adn ill tell u if ur right or not. =)

no problem. and honestly.. in my opinion.. lighting right now is one of the most important things.. cuz the more might the lower branches and nodes get.. the bigger they will grow.. adn more bud sights will form.. and obviously.. the more BUDsites.. the more BUD. lol. yea wal-mart has these clamp light things.. the things i use for my plants.. adn u can throw a few Daylight CFL's in there and put them on the side.. and use them during flowering.. ANY extra light is a big +.

wow.. 600 watt!? with those 2 plants.. those things are gonne be fucking HUGE man!!! wow.. im excited to see ur journal now. hahaha

and yeaa, i wouldnt hang it vertically.. cuz if u do that.. the plants will try to reach out to it.. and grow sideways... and u dont want that. =)

jsut keep the HPS up top.. and even if u can only get 1 CFL.. 1 is better than none. but i think just alone with the 600 watt HPS with 2 plants... those things are gonna grow to be monsters!! watch. =)

another funny way I like to think of pheno-types are to compare them to people/races.. sayyy white people for example.. we are all white people.. (well me anywayz. lol) but we all are "unique".. its almost like that... except with plants.. sayyyy each strain has only 3 or 4 phenotypes... the LESS phenotypes a strain has.. the more "stable" it is.. u hear ppl talk about plants bein stable.. thats what they mean.. plants that arent stable.. have like 10 diff phenotypes.. and soo if u grow like 5 of them.. sum might be short.. sum will be tall.. sum will be wide.. etc.. and they wont all grow the same.

lol. and yea man its normal. =) like u said its kinda good.. especially if ur talkin about taking clones.... like say u take 1 clone from each plant... and sayyyy the one with the rounder leaves end up growing bushier.. and yields 4 ounces (just in theory.. idk wat u will end up yielding. lol) and the other plant grows tall without many bud sites.. and only yield 1 ounce... then u will know which phenotype is good.. and which one u want to continue to grow adn continue to clone.

lol. yeaa it does have alotta red hairs. =) since i pulled it early.. the hairs havent receeded back into the bud yet.. soo they're xtra long. lol.

and yeaa ima smoke some of this joint soon. and let u know how it was.. it was really sticky breakin it up.. hard to pull apart too. probly cuz its so fresh tho. im hopin this plant does better too.. but my other plant seemed to have more "big" buds.. and this one seems to have more "bib popcorn buds" lol. we'll see tho. like i said.. im hopin they fatten up some more.. just gave it some mroe molasses. the whole plant tilts to the right cuz the buds are so heavy.. haha.

and folding the sides in like that was a trick one of my old dealers showed me.. it works GREAT! keeps any weed from fallin out from the sides.. then u just rip off the ends wen u get ready to smoke it. =)

i use the 18/6... my 1st grow i used 24-0.. and my 2nd grow i used 20-4.. and then my 3rd one i used 18-6.. and from my experience.. 18/6 works best for me.. sum ppl say to use 24-0 for the 1st week and then go to 18-6.. cuz u gotta think about it... at some point.. ur plant needs rest..

during the light.. ur leaves grow.. but at night.. wen the lights are out.. are wen the roots do their growing.. soo its good to give them a rest.. adn give the roots time to grow. =)

and dont worry about it man. i wanna try to help ya out as much as i can. =0 and yeaa i am pretty impressed with the 3+ ounce plant from CFL's... hahaha. i dont like to brag... but i am damn proud of that plant!! =D

A lotta good info in these post, Im still goin back and reading over them and making sure I'm picking up on everythng. I think I understand topping, I checked out a pretty good picture that helped some too. I just got finished topping WW1, WW2 has to catch up some I think. But Im still not sure if I hit it at the right place!? I cut the new growth, right above the last node...is that right?? Here's a few pics to try and show the result, I hope I didnt mess it up!! ahhhh

Looks about right. If you want to fim u just cut about 3/4 of the growth tip off, instead of the whole thing.
