What specific hints has he given you? I know it's damn hard to pay attention when they are blathering on about some shit we aren't interested in but there are times when you simply have to bite the bullet and listen to them. Otherwise they stop listening to us :) which translates into lack of shit I like showing up. So yeah ya got to occasionally listen LOL.

Otherwise just buy a Snap On universal socket set. That is some sweet, sweet iron, best universal set I've ever used.

Always good to have an extra pair of spring loaded fiskars around. Perlite if he's soil. maybe a fabirc container for their root pruning abilities, they're fairly cheap too. A hydrometer. Some ona blocks. That microscope neo suggested is a good one too.

Why don't you do an "inventory" of what he has now. Does he have a ph meter and a parts per million meter? That can cost between 50-300 bucks depending on the brand, type, etc. Does he have 2 rooms used for growing? I know a small good LED light for vegging would be nice (under the tree for me) if he needs a veg room light or side lighting. Or find out what kind and wattage of bulbs he uses and get him a new one. Those things are always getting used up. Stay away from nutes and additives. He probably has enough of that. Maybe a gift card from a local hydro store?

that microscope is the winner by far I would say... you can look at so many other things than just bud under it.. finger prints. eye balls... (future gifts of prints of fingerprints and eyeballs haha )

an ez-cloner would be a nice gift if he doesn't have one.

co2 tank/regulator/controller.

new blue lab truncheon meter.

a bubble hash machine.

t-5 light for cuttings.

the possibilities are endless!
