Hello my dear Chuckers :)
At the beginning of this year I was lucky enough to start my own project.

Treated my favorite Pheno with Sts, collected Pollen and pollinated the other girls :) and got a lot of seeds.

i put the seeds in paper bread bags to dry for a few weeks afterwards.
Then I put the seeds in packs and put them in the fridge...

Now I wanted to test the seeds and germinate them... 14 seeds ...
Sad balance : after 16-24 hours : none of them germinated :( meanwhile I germinated other seeds from other breeders : ( pack was 2-3 years old )
3 of 3 already germinated after 15-16 hours

What did I do wrong ?
Can I save my seeds ? Let it dry longer?
Is it to late???

I would be happy if someone can help me further: maybe the same experience?

friendly greetings to everyone

Since you got a lot of seeds, try popping a bunch just to see if they pop tails. You didn't say how the seeds look. Are they white or brown with stripes? The mom plants need about four weeks min to make mature seeds. Did you pop from just one mom or multiple to see if it's just that one mom making dud seeds?

Chucking some Guava Cooler x Le Mans male (my cross) pollen today to a couple Guava Cooler x Lemans females for f2's (ones my keeper and another that I haven't grown out before), keeper Lemans, a Cough bx1, and a Guawi. The Lemans will be a bx of sorts and I'm really excited about popping those when they're ready. PXL_20230730_145426098.jpg

I took 4x cuttings from a Mother that was my favorite and treated them with STS so that I got a lot of pollen from the same plant.

So from 1 reversal mother

Have matured the pregnant plants for 4-5 weeks after successful pollination.
nice brown seeds with marble pattern & tiger stripes ... of course there were also a few light colored seeds without a pattern.

I start my seeds in soil and they usually take 3 to 5 days, sometimes as much as 10 days to germinate.
I also put the seeds in soil = in such small seed cubes.
but 3-5 days sometimes 10? Wow

Actually, with good breeders I always have !!! a germination rate of 100% after 12-30 hours.
That's why I'm surprised and somehow disappointed that after 16-24 hours nothing can be seen, nuts haven't even opened yet :(
But I'll wait again - maybe something will happen

Well dang it sounds like you did what you're supposed to do, right. I don't think you messed up I think it's that mom. Probably some plants smoke good but don't breed good. I'd try hitting that pollen to a different mom to see if those grow.

It's possible the fridge is to blame, is this a dedicated fridge or is it opened alot? I've never done the fridge thing because of condensation and moisture from opening the fridge. I don't have a dedicated one.
Also possible they were put in the fridge too soon. Or as others have said, the plant just made dud seeds. But I find that unlikely.
After 5 days I would say there is little chance they will pop. But there is a chance up to 14 days I'd say.
Try the solo cup method and paper towel method if you haven't yet.

It is pretty common knowledge that seeds planted in soil generally take 3 to 10 days to emerge.

Another run of the Malana Cake (3 weeks in bloom)

I still have tons of F1 seeds I made about 3 years ago. I didn't really store them properly so getting more to germinate has proven difficult.
Still, with some care, a good number came along. Look at this little baby

Once I find a couple good pollen donors the cut is going to get it too. Delicious - smells of earthy blackberry. 7ish more weeks to go!

I am still working @genuity Demo line. At this point I am thinking its a new line as this plant is an S1 of an F3 and I am reversing it to make S2s and crosses..

I have been selecting what I like but I would say it is now an OG type with very stretchy, gassy hand grenade nuggs.

We have grown out well over 100 of these indoor, outdoor and greenhouse and the traits are fairly well locked in. Has won some informal best weed on the hill comps among long time grower friends.

Wish Gen was still around would love to send him some. I am going to give a lot away here in Australia and spread this wonderful line around freely.

Here she is out in the late winter Aussie sun she has been sprayed twice and will get 2 more sprays.

I would suggest giving them a scuff before soaking in water for 24 hrs. If the seeds are really mature, they may have hard seed casings. I had a batch that did the same thing as yours, they looked amazing, nice and dark but wouldn't pop. I tried scuffing some and they all popped. Seems they just needed an avenue to get moisture inside to the embryo. Grab a packet of matches, empty out the contents and put some fine grit sand paper inside the box. Put your seeds in it, give them a shake for 30 seconds or so and then pop in water! See how you go!

a LITTLE UPDATE :D
Guys I think :D my "newbie fear" drove me crazy.
ALL my own seeds - all seeds fully germinated after 24-72 hours :)
And the babies are growing healthy every day :)

What I would not have thought either: that, for example, 3-5 year old seeds can sometimes germinate faster than seeds that are 6 months old.

ok the journey continues :)
Thanks for all your replies
