There will always be more cities, there will never be more land.

Cities are just ant hills that consume resources and give nothing in return.

i think we were a fucked up civilization way before cities came in to existence
not much you can to but wait till technology solves the problems at this point
what is your definition of a city or tecnology i long time ago 3000 ppl was a city and the wheel was the newest thing on the block
we never woulda evolved or survived without either
and you never know mabye after tecnology advances enough you can live like the NOX from the stargate universe

Cities are the shit! I love nature don't get me wrong. But cities are where the people and the drugs are made, nature is where they are enjoyed.

i grew up in the city and i hate it...if you wanna make money its good...but id rather be poorer and live off the land and be happy. Im jus not one for the rat race. I think society in a whole has made cities imortant but we dont need them really, we just depend on em.

look at nature and look at mans cities nature flawless cities kill the earth and are an eye sore like i was walking home and watching the stars and thought like all the stars there are and how all of earth life in itself like all plants animals and people is signifigant special in its own way like take the marijuana plant unique flawless i think marijuana is prettier then a rose really the leaves are the only kind like it in nature opium is a pretty plant to but in the end all matter breaks down is my point so why create life and how did anything come from anything matter couldnt just appear out of no where
If you love nature, you should be grateful for all the people living in cities. 3 billion living in urban areas-- only 10 billion acres of arable land.

If all those folks wanted to be just like you and had a couple acres of land, there would be nowhere to farm, much less have forests.

Also, although you have issues with the pollution of cities, urban dwellers have a smaller carbon footprint than rural dwellers.

if people would stop popping out babies, maybe the population wouldn't be so high that we need to have such big, dirty cities. if you're popping out kids, QUIT COMPLAINING!!!

I love big cities..

especially the 'Big Apple'. But that's my opinion.

I like big cities, especially New York.. because there's so much energy there. Sure, there are a LOT of people in N.Y. - but, there is so much to do there!

Try living where I live right now.. there's absolutely not shit here to do. And yet the local police and mayor can't seem to figure out why kids around this area get into constant trouble all the time.. hmmm... Geee I wonder!?!?

When I say there's nothing for kids/teens to do around here.. that's just what the hell I mean. There is absolutely nothing around this city, for kids/teens to do.. to keep them out of trouble. Until the city does something about it.. and builds an activity center or at least an arcade or something, the kids/teens will continue to get into trouble.

I remember when I was young.. in my teens. This was in the early 90's to mid 90's though.. back when going to the arcade or skating rink was the 'in thing' to do. But my point is.. is my generation HAD things that they could go out and do.. and not get into trouble. But they just don't have those types of places these days.. or so it seems.

I'm telling ya, this worlds going to hell in a pink bucket.. period. It won't be long before the world sees what I'm talking about. ;)

peace.

Which is dirtier? 11 million people living in 16 square miles or 11 million people spread out all over 'nature'? I would argue that greater efficiencies can be achieved in cities in terms of environmental degradation AND quality of life and that a given number of people pollute less living in close proximity. A single pig farmer can have a far greater impact on the environment than a brooklyn grocer, for example. And that grocer doesn't require acres of parking surrounding his store so all the country folk can park when they come to buy; his customers walk to his business. One poster mentioned how lousy transportation is in cities; he must have been high. I live in the country and you can't walk anywhere unless you don't have much to do that day. So you are a slave to your car. In a city you have buses, trains, subways, taxis, hydrofoil ferries, all powered by clean energy, you can easily bike anywhere and many cities encourage and facilitate use of public and clean modes of transportation.

My small town on the prairie has a heroin and meth problem, underemployment, contaminated groundwater from agriculture and livestock operations, etc etc.

rant over.
