Have you guys heard of Civil Forfeiture? I knew that the cops could take your car and house if you were convicted of certain crimes, but this is fucking nuts. No conviction or charge is necessary, they just rob you... legally.

Basically cop pulls you over for speeding and searches you and car, you were on your way to buy a used car with cash, $8,000 worth to be exact. Cop suspects its money for drugs. cop confiscates money and gets to keep it. If you want it back you need to hire a $10,000 lawyer to file a suit and then wait around for the justice system to get to it, then a trial and yada yada yada.

Cops get to keep it without any evidence whatsoever, just the mere suspicion it "might" be used to buy drugs is all they need to take it.And by taking it and keeping it, I mean they get to spend it on stuff for the police. Nice new military armored vehicles, water cannons, M-4 assault rifles etc etc etc and the big black boots for stepping on your face, paid for by YOU.

Civil forfeiture.

A cop could pull you over and say the $60 in your wallet was for drugs and keep it.

Totally legal for police to do this, some locales its all they do, and they make millions.

Watch the video, John Oliver is funny.

Nope, they get that shit for free from the military/govt as "retired equipment", which of course the military/govt used tax dollars to buy. The more we pay the more militant they get. Don't pay? Go to jail. Pay? Go to jail.

And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each One was to be used as evidence against us.

Sorry I got carried away.

Anything worth a fuck that you own is titled or registered to the state you live in. The state owns your shit, they can take it if they want it and banks can take your savings accounts too.

@schuylaar they takes what they wants, and what they dont wants they destroy;)

https://www.aclu.org/criminal-law-reform/civil-asset-forfeiture

"Every year, federal and state law enforcement agents seize millions of dollars from civilians during traffic stops, simply by asserting that they believe the money is connected to some illegal activity and without ever pursuing criminal charges. Under federal law and the laws of most states, they are entitled to keep most (and sometimes all) of the money and property they seize."

I sold a house to a guy one time.

He brought over 200k of certified checks to the closing.

We had to fill out a lot of paperwork for the federal government because the guy paid cash. Insane.
