That’s awesome to hear bro! Nah I ended up getting hlvd from auntie jane and had to shut it down for 7 months and trash everything I had. Im hunting beans now and been having pretty good results doing that.
That blows about the plant hiv.. Im running seeds now also. Gonna find out who's who/what. Sorta hijacked this thread. Pm/dm whatever the fuck its called lol

This is a timely thread for me. I recently built a new house, and have a designated "special ops" room for my grow. I've been growing in Promix, drain to waste, but really want to keep my new room as clean as possible. So I've decided to try ebb and flow with hydroton. How often are you guys changing your reservoir, and have you had problems with root rot?

I started using these a few months ago. Quite inexpensive and effective.
Well, now I have something to look forward to buying that isn't just a more powerful light!

I love ebb n flow, but with the hops virus going around you are risking full contamination with the shared res.

The thing I dug most about a perpetual sog F&D in pots was that when I caught a case of mites or thrips, I could just take them all to the bathtub and spray the shit out of each plant. I could also move the plants around the trays so they all received the best light. So easy. I am not looking forward to those battles with my current set up where the plants are stationary. Prevention is more of a focus now with a regular spraying schedule to stop it before it starts. We'll see how it goes.

What kind of yield are you getting with that set up?

I only had room for four 3'x2' trays under 1600 watts of HPS, plus a tiny tent in the corner for 8 moms and an aero cloner below. Average yield was about 11 oz. every 2 weeks. Such a great little perpetual sog, I made about 100k per year off that room. Of course, that's before medical then rec came to Illinois. I sold all of it to a small collective of musicians and DJs anywhere from $350 to $480 per ounce. I spent a lot of it on fun shit, but managed to save a good deal of it, as well. Just bought my house all cash (that grow room was in a tiny apartment), and had a pro electrician wire up one of the bedrooms with an 8000 watt capacity for $3200. I'd never be able to fit enough lights in there to use all that power, maybe half that in the summer. But it's nice not to have to run cords from all over the house this time :) Of course ounces only go from $120-$200 now. Glad I could take advantage of the gold rush while it lasted...

I have a top feed drain to reservoir (recirc) system using hydroton and air pots. I change my reservoir every 10-14 days depending. I tend to be more diligent with this in flower.

I top with well water daily and when the EC has dropped by 50%, I will add back nutes at 75%.

The only 3
Im at least number 5

I ran flood and drain for over 10 years and always loved itLow maintenance, and it produced some of the best weed I’ve smoked in my life.

I don’t have a system running right now, but I’m working on a plan for an new room and it’s hard not to want to set up another similar f/d system to what I had.

Because I like it simple and working every time, just put water and nutrients in a big container, then come back in 3-4 months to pick the fruits. No maintenance and no electricity needed, just grow lights indoors. That is why I use Kratky. The bigger container size, the bigger fruits, yield and plant size.

But if you like to do it more complex than you need, with many more factors that can fail, then do other grow methods for sure.
Weed cant grow with kratky.tried it after 24h it eats all the air in the water and stops growing starts showing overwatered signs

I used a concrete mixing tub as my table and a storage tupperware for my reservoir for my first grow. Used the 3 part GH flora which was a little confusing as I was unsure if I should dump it out and refresh every week. What do you think I should have done? The seeds were strawberry cough bag seeds from my buddy's parents and I thought the flower came out pretty good but I'm sure I can do better this next run with some better genetics.

I usually do a new res every one to two weeks depending on how busy I am, what stage of flower I am in, and how many/how big the plants are. I run a 27 gal res, a smaller res would need more frequent attention. I also scrub my res every week with some white vinegar to prevent salt build up.

6 plants in 4in rockwool don't need a new 27 gal res every week. Anything over 12 plants, once a week is preferable imo.
