I am quickly becoming a fan of classic seeds...got ten freebies from seed depot ...Hawaiian skunk x romulan...check out the seed depot forum..classic seed has his own sub forum and posts there often.

A guy named weedmon over at SD grew some real nice Hawaiian skunk x romulan's and he said they smelled awesome. I think he said it was pretty strong too. I've got some of Classic's Chemdog x Alpha Diesel x C99's going right now, excited to see if they turn out like these are developing.

Also you say top up with magpro and RO so does that mean you dont apply Magpro in the intial rez mix and just use in addbacks? I can figure it out after I get going but the initial application for early veg is where I am a little nervous with no experience with DYNA.

I start clones in rockwool at about 400ppm (.7 scale) and that is grow and protekt only. A small dash of magpro isn't going to hurt though. I don't top off with magpro but if needed, I'll add more water to the res if they can't make it the entire week.
 
Very beautiful man. Very interesting strain to grow. She has the unique look in her that we don't normally see out here. How would you compare these to AK-47? I am looking for an good Sativa. I am pretty picky on Sativas. I love a lot of Indica strains, only an handful of Sativas I actually like. Atomic haze, super silver haze, island sweet skunk are my favorites.

I have a question about using Mag-pro that I tend to use only in flower and works just fine. However, in veg I used Mag-pro and Cal-mag with no luck. The stem is purple in some areas. I just started using RO water and it is 0 ppm water, my tap is 350-450ppm. I am still getting used to Pro-mix as well. I have seen you mention you only use protekt and grow in veg and nothing else? I feed at every watering in veg. " I start at 200ppm then upwards to 320ppm depending on strain with .25- 1.25ml of map-pro but now I am trying cal-mag in veg since it has npk 2 0 0, around 1.25 to 2.5 ml. Still getting a bit purple stems. I am trying to figure out if it is a lockout or deficiency. What would you suggest?

I don't have any problems when I start clones in roots organics soil then transplant in pro-mix. I want to stop using roots organics completely since its cheaper in the long run to use pro-mix.

I've not smoked these yet as this is my first time growing this cross so I can only compare AK47 to these in a visual sense. My AK47 stays pretty squat with lots of budsites and lots of branches. I really need to 'lollipop' my AK47 as the numerous branches down low can really be hard to trim come harvest time. The flowers on my AK are pretty dense and don't really resemble that classic sativa bud structure of red hairs and foxtails. I'd consider the high to be 'up' and social to an extent but there is a cloudiness/stoniness to it as well and it'll make you a drooling, redeyed mess if you smoke too much. It's 'party weed' IMO; a crowd pleaser because it's 'up' enough for the sativa guys and stoney enough for the indica lover.

AK is a 2/3rds leaning sativa, basically a hybrid. If you're looking for a good sativa, I'd highly recommend Kali Mist. It's a chatty buzz, clear, social, motivating and energetic. There is zero sleepy comedown and it's great for physical activities like hiking or biking. It'll intensify colors during the day and keep you going at night with it's zero paranoia buzz if you're out with friends. I have not found a ceiling to KM so if you take in too much, hold on because you're in for a rocket ride.

I'm excited to smoke this cross from Classic as the strains used in this cross are legendary. Two out of three plants are starting to take on that classic sativa structure so I'm definitely excited to see how they smoke.

Grow and protekt is all you need in veg when using RO and promix. That's exactly how these plants have been grown. I actually don't think magpro is needed but if I were to include it, 1/2ml/gal would be plenty. So maybe 200-250ppm (.7 scale) of grow and enough protekt to balance that pH and you should be set for veg. Doubling that for flower is a good place to start but the plants will ultimately tell you if they like it or not.

I have only tried Kali Mist once a long time ago so I can't really remember whether I liked it or loved it. All I could remember is that I did enjoy it. Again, thanks for the suggestions.
 
I hope everyone had a nice holiday.

Today we're at day 66 I believe and we might be taking one of these girls down in the next week. I look for 3 things usually; swollen seed bracts, 75% red hairs, clear/cloudy trics. The tric color always coincided with swollen seed bracts and red hairs so I actually don't check trics too much these days. Anyways, number 1 is looking almost done so unless they're any objections (and please voice them), she'll probably get chopped after her next watering which should be in about 5 - 6 days.

What do you think? Close to done?

Number 2 has a couple yellow leaves on her main cola which I'm pretty sure is from the light. The other girls have been treated exactly the same and are a healthy green and even number 2's lower buds are nice and green too. Plant health is very important to me as I've found that the healthiest plants produce the best meds. I think she has a couple weeks left but the end is definitely in sight.

Number 3 (below) and number 1 are on the perimeter of the garden and are looking very healthy top-to-bottom. I've noticed more and more red hairs with each day that passes so number 3's days are numbered too. I'd suspect 2 and 3 will be harvested close to one another but that is still a couple weeks away. We'll see.

looking very nice HB. Its kool we all have come to the same conclusions to the amounts of DG products to use. I have started running a tad higher PPM up around 6-700, just to see if it helps or not. My best weight was with a plant that was fed constantly, but didnt have enough grow in flower. 4.5 Z off that one. looking to duplicate it again. but winter temps are screwing me i think.

only question i have really is, what is it you are calling the seed bract? Im pretty sure i understand what specific part your talking about, but figured if u could toss a pic up, it would be kool...
 
They look greasy and stinky, gorgeous looking plants. One question, two actually. Do you reuse soil? I ask this because that's a lot of money to be spent on Dyna-Gro and Pro-Mix every time you run out. I mean it's not too expensive, compared to other(s) feeding schedule, but you could be saving a lot of money if you started growing organic. I would think that someone like yourself would've start converting to organic since you've been growing for so long, unless your not interested in saving money, or for whatever personal reasons. You do realize this though, you could have probably put a down payment on some property with all this money your spending on fertilizers and new soil. Anyway, so why have you not started converting to organic?

People say 'calyx' but they're actually seed bracts. Semantics I guess.

I used to reuse the dirt but if you've ever had to battle pests, reusing dirt is a great way to never win that battle. As of now, I'm not reusing the promix.

I started out growing organic, what I do now is cleaner, cheaper, easier, and gives superior results. Every time I feed my plants in flower, each gallon costs 6 cents, that's for grow and protekt. Lets say I'm watering 2.5 times per week for their flowering cycle, that means I've spend about $1.50 in plant food per plant. I don't feed each plant an entire gallon though so if you factor in the veg side too, I spent about $1.50 per plant for the entire grow. Stick around for some yield numbers.

I buy promix by the bale, I think they weigh 60lbs? I add vermiculite to that, the combination is not expensive. Compare the $50 I spent for a total of 5.8 cubic feet of growing medium to the $40 it costs for 1.5 cubic feet of Roots organic, I think I'm way ahead.
 
You add vermiculite to your promix, and not perlite? Im not sure if there is a huge difference. I thought vermiculite held water more than the perlite does, and since promix holds water forever as it comes, the perlite would aid the drainage better than vermiculite.

Im not nit pikn by any means, im jus trying to understand your methodology. I have had better than average results doing basically the same thing as you. so if i can make any tweaks to improve, im deff listening.

I have been reusing my promix, I have not noticed any neg effects as of yet. I toss it all in a 1/2 of a 55g barrel, let it sit in there for a month or two. I try to remember to flush it out really well before dumping it in, but, dont always. The ones i jus rolled into flower i did 1/2 the plants with reused, 1/2 with fresh promix, so testing see if they grow any differently.

Promix already has perlite, the vermiculite I add just evens out the texture of promix. It's a tip a picked up from BOG years ago.

Healthy plants produce the best meds and DG makes it really easy to grow healthy plants. As much as I like DG, it's not a guarantee of course. We still need to know when to water, how much to water, when to feed and how much. Developing those skills along with a stable environment allows us to grow strains to their near full potential and comparing well grown strains to each other is the best way to hunt for those keeper phenos. I hope I have one in this grow!
 
I been looking into this Classis Seeds guy, he sounds like hes a good ol boy jus tryin to spread the wealth. Im in, gonna score me some C99, NL#1, and the Talk of Kabul. With the Strawberry Frost and Deep Space I got comin, should make for a interesting year. Add to that the new genetics iv piked up with new clones, and im gonna be swamped. Almost a full time job.....
