Clawed leaves but why?

This plants is growing with some clawed leaves. The leaves aren't dark green and it's not near a fan. Can it be nitrogen toxicity?? If so, what can I do? If I flush this soil it's probably going to drown the plant. If I just water with ph perfect water for the next couple cycles will it resolve itself?

I haven't given this plant any nutrients, but the soil was used in a previous grow. However, in the previous grow I had flushed the soil for about 2 weeks prior to harvest and also used flawless finish....so I doubt there are leftover nutrients.

Thoughts?

If anything it looks like it may be low on nitrogen, those are some pale leaves. I don't see any burnt tips either. I'm no expert on how soil behaves when re-used, but I would give her some nutes, 1/4 to 1/8 strength. See if she improves.

That also crossed my mind, but it's easier to add than it is to remove so I wanted to make sure. Tomorrow is watering day so I'm going to check the ph again of the soil and the TDS.

Do leaves claw even with a deficiency?

Yeah, they can. To be honest I really only see one leaf on there that looks like nitrogen clawing. And your leaves would be way darker than that before it would happen. You've got some good tight internodes there, so light isn't your problem, and light is the only thing I can think of that would keep the plant pale other than underfeeding. Other than overwatering that is, and she doesn't look like that to me.
As to easier to add than take away, yes that's true, but that's why I'm recommending 1/8 strength. And it's a young plant, so you have time for it to grow out of any nutrient excess before flowering.

Thanks from the advice. I'll take it. I'll give it nutrients and see what happens. I'll post an update in a week or so.

feed everytime with a low dose. dont even think about water only on that big ass pot. Right now , they are hungry. As you water with food , the roots will stretch out faster to fill that pot.

Plants hungry as fuck. Needs more than just nitrogen. Leaves are drooping a touch cause they’re getting ready to just die off rapidly. You’ve used up everything in the soil. Give it a good dose of balanced nutes ASAP.

You have everything working against you. You’re using leeched out soil that has an imbalance of nutrients left and probably a whack ph. You’re probably overwatering in those big ass 5 gallons. Plants are hungry as al hell and showing deficiency of nitrogen and magnesium/potassium at the least. Sidenote. I love those particular 5 gallons cause of the color. I use them. That soil is a mystery to u. I wouldn’t have used it but some have no problem. Definitely don’t flush. Leaves are sitting up decent so not much of a moisture issue I’d guess now that I look again. Feed them.

Haha. My plants typically love the orange! This is my first time reusing soil so it's a bit of an experiment I suppose. It's been fed 2ml/L Advanced M/G/B

When you water, how much are you using each time, and what's the frequency been? I agree perhaps you need smaller amounts of water, definitely time to up the nutes a little... Any idea how much ppm or ec is going in and the ph?

Oh also, I've had good luck reusing soil at least for one run. Putting in some organic microbial kinda stuff would probably help get that soil where it needs to be too. I've had good luck using Photosynthesis+ and fox farm Big Bloom while reusing soil, and I also use a lot of the NFTG line... But anything along those lines wouldn't hurt...

I never had any success with used soil. I may have had some that were average at best and probably 2nd guessed everything all the way through. I think the obstacles you will be trying to overcome is the unknown soil and the small plants in big ass buckets. It will take an experienced hand to not over-water them.
