Cleaning Tomato seeds.

This is how i do it..

1. I take the tomato and cut it in halves and scoop out the seeds into a dixie cup.
2 I fill the cup half full of water a swish it around and pour out the big chunks and refill the cup and cover it with a paper towel and rubber band.
3. After two days i uncover the cup and pour out what's floating on top of the water. All bad seeds will be floating as well.

I repeat steps 2 and 3 for a week or more before

4. Pour the water off the seeds and scoop the seeds on a cloth rag in a paper plate where i leave them to dry for a few days before storing them in the freezer.

This is how i do it and have had much success. There will be no gunk on the seeds, and all the bad seeds float so you can remove them. I plant one seed per cup and i have had nearly a 100% germination rate.

I do the same thing only use a jar so I can shake them. after about two days all the film is washed off and I can lay them out to dry. I don't freeze them either 100% germination with my heirlooms. Black krim is my favorite View attachment 3441279View attachment 3441280
I know it's not necessary to freeze your seeds, but it's something i do, because grandpa did. I have a 5 gallon bucket of beans that's been out in my dry storage shed since grandpa put them there many years ago. He has them covered in in seven dust.. 2wks ago when i was working out in the shed and i found the green bucket and i put 10 seeds in a wet paper towel inside a zip baggy and 7 out of 10 sprouted in a few days
