Clear slime

Not sure if it's a real problem or not, atleast not yet. But, there is some clear slimy stuff that's building up on the roots. Does this happen in a hydro set up or is it detrimental? Also, if it can harm them, is there anything that can get rid of it?

Sorry, no pics at the moment. But by describing it by word, it looks very similar to a clear snotty mucous that is just on parts of the roots.

i had the problem. DONT use peroxide. cyanobacteria needs a really high dose of H2O2 and that dose will kill your plants. the best way to keep root system healthy is to run bio organisms. i had that slime, (clear slime at first, then turned brown when older).... i added some great white root innoculant and the problem went away in 2 days. DONT feed them sugars, or mollasses, unless your beneficial microorganisms dominate the natural population of organisms in ur system or you will have root problem again

oh i forgot to mention on extreme cases of slime, you can try and pull it off the roots. alot of roots will come off when you tug (dead roots) and take the remains of the plant and soak it in a super concentrated innoculant. after u dipped all the plants, dump that innoculant in your reservoir.

Thanks for the info, it sounds great. I'm gonna look into getting some of that great white root innoculant and try it out. The nutes that are being used is called Green Planet Wholesale. Supposedly started up with a few guys who ran Advance Nutes. First time using these nutes, first run, so not sure how well they do in the end. I have their Grow part a and b, Bloom part a and b, massive, liquid w-8, finisher, and brix.

I've been hearing that the res is too warm and that is probably the cause of the white slime that is building up on the roots. One person said it could be pythium, hope it's not. Put some peroxide (3%) in the res with the hope that it will slow any further growth before they are finished. I was also thinking of getting the H2O2 from the store and using that, but I don't want to hurt the plants, especially if I can hold off the slime with the regular 3% peroxide for the next 3 to 4 weeks.

They seem to be taking up water still, had 9 gallons in the res, now it's probably half of that in a 24 hr period.
