Clink's 2014 outdoor grow: Mandala (3) + Pure Afgan & Durban Poison

Hey friends :)

This year I'll be growing 3 from Mandala Seeds (regulars Beyond the Brain, Chill-Om and a female Purple Paro) and 2 other regulars, Durban Poison and Pure Afghan.

If I'm as lucky as last year I'll get 4 females out of 5.

Once again I'll be using pro-mix only, no nutes, rainwater-only (unless there's a drout). I got terrific results last summer with this lazy formula hehehe. All will be lst'd for privacy.

I'll try and photo-update as often as I can so stay tuned!

Jesus help me!

I don't know what the fuck is going on but this grow is heading for disaster. My soil must be contaminated. I'm almost at the 3-week mark and this is what I have to show for it:

Beyond the brain didn't even make it out of the ground... I know it's still early in the summer but the solstice is around the corner and these plants just aren't pretty. We've had more rain than sun in the last weeks so hopefully things will pick up. I'd sure love to come back to this post in 2 months and smile.

damn clink, did you keep at it? Do you think it had anything to do with going right in the ground? Seems to me they start faster in a cup, maybe the sun being able to warm up the soil after a cool night. And how cold was it getting at night?

Its almost been 2 months, hopefully you come back with good news.

Alright so here's the story. Plants werent growing shit. I waited a month and then decided to move everybody in pots with promix. Then within a week they were growing like normal fucking plants do. All the plants are doing fine now except chill-om, who's roots were stuck in a bigass vine root... She'll recover but the hour is late. Oh and my Durban is a male. Swell!

Pics coming up

I cut down Durban but kept the pollen balls, I'll try to pollenize some of the lower buds of my Afghan to get some 50/50 indica-sativa :)

Hello you beautiful gardeners, here's a quick photo update.

Things are going good and growing strong (now...). I won't get a huge yield but at least I'll be able to sample 3 new varieties and that's always awesome. Chill-Om has yet to show her pistils so I'm thinking it may actually be a Beyond the Brain! It was dark when I planted them and since BTB is mostly sativa, it would explain the late flowering. In any case, it's a Mandala that's for sure ;)

looks good, when will they start flowering?
Afghan and Purple Paro started flowering early August, the Mandala started just a few days ago. :)

Hey hey yo yo, sorry for the lack of updates. My wife gave birth to my daughter!

Here are my other little girls. Things are going nicely, Purple Paro's close to finishing which is surprising, Beyond the Brain is looking like an end-of-October and my Pure Afghan, well, I don't know what the shit's going on with her. I was sure she would finish end of September but like I said in a thread in the plant hospital forum, even though she started flowering super early, she kinda stopped being a woman for a month. the few white hairs I had seen at the end of July had not multiplied and stagnation took over. She's doing better now but I have no idea how much more she'll develop and when she might finish. I don't think this is a strain for my climate...

Anyhoo, a few pics:

Thanks! She really was great to grow, although smoke-wise she's not the best... Kinda sub-par for a Mandala.

Beyond the brain however is the strongest weed I've ever had! REALLY lives up to its name.

The afghan is also amazing, the smell is out of this world! That's what I love most about landraces, their uniqueness in smell and taste. A scent that is found nowhere else in nature. Mmmmmm!!!

What was she like smoke wise? How does she smell? I have some Bhutanese Thimpu from Holy Smokes and I thought it would be good, like the Himalayan Charas plants. What about the smell and effects of Beyond the Brain?
