Had a Nirvana Wonder Woman that was lanky. Been thinking about trying cloning and figured instead of trashing the plant, I'd practice on it.
It's hard times in the 'hood, so I couldn't afford any peat pellets. I had to scrape up funds for rooting hormone. Pathetic I know... I put them straight into a mix of 50% peat moss, 50% Ocean Forest. Wonder Woman seeds do fine in straight up Ocean Forest, but I wanted to be safe so I thinned it out with the peat moss to make it milder.
Anyway, my main concern is how to handle them while they root. The clones are in small 1/4 gallon pots. I pre-moistened the soil before putting the clones in. I placed the potted clones in large freezer bags and zipped them closed. My closet temps are around 80 with the lights on. I put the bagged plants in the closet because outside of the closet hardly any humidity collects in the bag and I'm afraid of them not getting enough moisture.
My plans are to partially open the bag more and more over the next 3 or 4 days and then maybe on the 4th or 5th day (or when they start growing again), leave them out of the bag/humidity dome and watch them closely to see how they do.
I guess my question is, should I leave them under the light to promote humidity or leave them out of the light? I read that leaving them out of direct light will force them to focus more on roots than foliage, but again I'm worried about the plants wilting and dying if they don't have enough humidity.
Also, when would it be safe to completely remove them from the bags/dome?
