Clones for sexing: Did I do it right?

so i thought i'd veg my babies for 12 weeks to maximize yield, and so i have decided to take one clipping from each of my seven plants (1 month old), let the clippings grow under 24 hour light for two-ish weeks, then put into 12/12 to sex them. when i clipped them, i didn't pull off all the extra little leaves and things around the base of the clipping, i kept everything cuz i didnt know. i put all the clippings in a liquid rooting solution before putting them in the medium. any info or input is apreciated and welcomed

these are the plants after i clipped them

heres the clones

dope thanks man. i was worried my plants were a lil too young, and i was worried that i didn't have a long enough stem on the clones. hopefully it wont matter to much. any other input?

Nice set up, but you put to much money and work into cloning.

something with a lid, even a cup.
cut two holes, one large and one for the pump.
put clones into large hole.I wrap stems with wet paper, mold fit the hole.

1 fish air pump $7 100% rate within 10 days or my name aint nathan arizona!

Here's a question ... Why put all that time, money & effort into cloning what can possibly be a male plant? On top of that, waste space in your grow room and clone box with an unknown amount of males. Would it not be better to just sprout the seeds, veg a month, switch to 12x12, sex and decide what to do next? After this point in the process I think options open up and helps make decisions easier.

I'd like to suggest a heat mat. Makes cloning almost impossible to fail. :)

dope, so where do i get a heat mat? hydro store or just walmart or something? and i apreciate all the advice. ithe dome setup was only about 11 bucks, i already had that light over my big plants, so i didnt have to buy another light. and i made the decision hastily, mostly just because its the first grow and i want to experience as much as i can in this grow, including cloning etc so i will be better on my next grow.

it's a smiply heating pad can be bought anywhere.only needed if you can't keep water temps.

cloning: water, air and darkness for the roots.

My first time cloning, I did the same as you. went out and bought all this shit and waited 2 weeks sometimes even longer for roots to take.
water and air, is the fastest option.
my little set up with 10 clones in a cup. 11 days in and I sould have planted a few days ago....roots are looking for food already.

My plants showed pre-flowers at 1 month, and most by 2 months. If you are vegging for 3 months you should be able to tell what they are without cloning at all.

Couple of things. Clone setup looks good, I wouldn't change anything really, although my method is quite a bit different, the basics are the same. Make sure you know which clone belongs to which parent so its easy to get rid of males. Heat mat will help, so will making sure the starter plugs are not kept wet, only moist. Remove the dome cover for an hour at a time each day and increase the time its off by a 30 mins each day, so that at the end of 2 weeks its going 8 hours with no dome. this will harden the plants and cause less of a shock to them when you transplant to veg. You should have roots by 2 weeks, you may even have roots after only 6 days, the less the better. Once the roots start developing "Ladders" you can put them into veg.

The parents usually do show "Preflowers", but its not a certainty so just go with your original plan to 12/12 the clones so you know the sex of the parents. This method works fine and once you know which is which you can get setup with a mother plant to provide clones for years to come. Your not wasting any space and you will learn a good amount by sexing the plants as they begin to show ( Its really easy to sex them). Once you have a good method to make clones you are all set to grow poundage. Heres to 100% females bro!!

thank you all so much for the advice. apreciated it for sure. i'll go pick up a heat pad. so if i keep one mother plant for cloning, does that mean i don't flower it? how does this work?

I personaly take the clones, root'em and start the flowering 2 weeks after rooted.
...then I just flower everything at once. when I get home. I'll post my mother and clones 4 weeks into flowering.
At one time, I would just germ 20 seeds and hope for 10 females.
The amount of space and dirt needed was a huge wast.
I now plant 2 or 3 seeds, and always end up with at lest 1 female per strain.

Yea, if you want you can get a cycle going thats great if you have the extra space and lighting. you will skip the veg stage that way.

you will need a light proff flowering rm.

so i got a heat pad today for like 14 bux and i put it under the clones on the lowest setting. so whats the basic idea of doing this? it will heat up the water correct?

you can keep your mother in a veg state for as long as you want. as long as you don't shorten the light cycle from veg to flower (20/4 to (12/12).

thanks for the info. heres a flick of the clones after like three ish days. they look like shit but i suppose they always look like shit at first? the heatpad sucks and shuts off automatically after an hour, so i have to costantly turn it back on when i rmember
