Clones growing out of control…

Hi, I am new here and this was my first grow. The mothers were from seeds and I had no issues. Took a few nodes right before flowering and right off the start, within 2 weeks of being transplanted, it didn’t get taller, it just started growing new nodes after nodes and very close to each other. Before these pictures, it was even worst as I didn’t check on the clones as much as I should cause I was caring for the flowering mothers and things got out of hand so bad I had to just chop it off completely to clear things up and it just keeps coming back. What is causing it to grow so clustered? I know having lots of nodes is good for flowering but this is too much. These pictures are only 2 days apart.

I have 5 clones, 2 different strain, 3 of same strain are sharing one pot, the other 2 are same strain but in different pots by themselves and all 5 are growing same crazy wide nodes within nodes within nodes. I can’t even prune it to keep things nice and clean cause it’s kinda hard cutting tiny nodes that have even tinier nodes growing as if it’s flowering but with nodes. They are on 16/8 light and I was a little heavy on the nutes but only cause they weren’t going taller or anything and all of a sudden, bam! Could light being too close cause it to grow clusters? I moved it up a good foot 2 days ago and as you can see in “today” picture, it still produced wildly.
