I'm using a 1 gallon glass jar outside. It's filled about1/3 full of water with a small piece of styrofoam to float the cutting with the lid on. Just playing. It's been out in the shadehouse while the temps have been in the 110'S. I do try to keep it in a shadier area, but it still gets a lot of sun. Midday it looks a bit parched and the water almost burns the hand. It gets hot! I didn't use rootone. Didn't have any and since I was only playing, didn't buy any. It's been going for a couple of weeks and starting to show signs of rooting. A little hard on it, yet I think it will be better preped fot the outside.
I could probably dig the jar down a bit or at least covor the bottom of it to keep it cooler, but at the same time I want to see how hot it can get.
If you don't know the sex of your plant, a clone can be put into flowering, or if you do have a female it can be repeated. Lack of seed may also be a reason. Overall though, you're just as well starting from seed. IMO you get a better plant, you're not risking repeating 1 male over and over. and it will grow virtually as fast.
