Clones with purple gray discoloration

I have had this problem before exactly. I was (misting) them too much too often and the clones were getting this water mold like stuff growing at the tip between the crook of the stem branches. Looks identical. For me it was too much humidity and standing water on the plants and it was mold/rot... Yours may be from other reasons but I thought I would share, my findings.

Im thinking the mold/rot is definitely the problem. I had tried trouble shooting this very issue this time by squeezing my rooter drip free and then just misting the top of dome. Gonna start new batch tonight with no mist and no heat mat. Were you using heat underneath? I bought this thermostat and set it to 80 first day or so then down to 78. Wonder if that's still to hot for root zone...

I did use a mat but it cooked them every time. Now. Just the ambient light and heat from being on a shelf in my mother room is plenty. I have had the best luck in rapid rooters , stems cut on angles and I do scrap the side a little... Little! Mist the dome and I do mist them too just slightly. After a couple days the vents open then a day or so later the whole dome comes off. They never wilt and I have a 98% rooting probability. I TRY to keep it simple lol. No rooting gel/powder ect.I personally keep my rooters very damp(not soaked) constantly

View attachment 3676793 View attachment 3676794 View attachment 3676795 I'll preface this question with some back round of my recent cloning troubles. I've successfully cloned for years without a hickup. Never even put much thought into it because it's always been so easy. Always have used a tray with root riot cubes or rapid rooters. Sometimes with a dome, sometimes without. All of a sudden last summer I had a almost a whole tray of 60+ fall over and die. Only 15 or so made it. I immediately took a bunch of new cuts to replace them, to have them do the same. Stems were withered and slimy inside of rooters. Thought I had over watered or something so next round I cut a tray and kept the cubes to a perfect saturation and same problem. Also the few that lived once transplanted withered and died immediately. Obviously something was wrong. I had found some mold inside one of the tray cubes, so thought something had passed to others and killed everthing. Ok start over. Get all new trays, domes, even replaced my scissors cause they were old anyway. So first round this year I cut a tray full and 3 days later, same issue. Everyone falls over and stem is mush inside of rooter that is dry enough that if you squish it nothing comes out but is still moist. I did notice however that the room felt warmer than usual. I get my IR gun and find my mat is at 100+ degrees and my root zone is in the nineties. Eureka, my mat was burning them up all of a sudden after 5 years. Bought a thermostat for it and thought I was good to go. Set the stat at 78 and called it a day. It works very well with turning mat on and off. So again this round I just cut around 40 clones and within a few day I start seeing them fall. WTF!!! I don't understand why after 5 years all of sudden my cloning method goes belly up. My plants are healthy as they've ever been. So as I'm about to give up on cloning I see this purple crap coming from center of new growth out on the leaves. Anyone seen this before? The first one I saw, I thought was strain specific but now they all have it and again I have lost 75% and most have this shit going on. Mind you I had never seen this purplish crap till this round...really hope someone can help me right this ship. I have now lost all my genetics I worked so damn hard to keep, and now I feel like it's futile to even try. Does anyone have a clue what this is? Those are three different cuts in the pics.
Standard Damping Off outbreak, (fungal infection) either chill for 2-3 months

or clean clean thorough like to the same as a hospital standard

household bleach works well also replacing used or worn gear

good luck

Do you use the three layer flat with the dome? water goes in the bottom tray the middle try keeps your clones out of the water. Neem oil will keep mold at bay. Spray the branch you want to cut first let it dry then clone it. My heat mat runs hot I just lay a towel over it. that seems to be enough of a barrier to keep from cooking. as soon as they perk back up take the dome off for a few hours when you put the dome back on spritz the root riot so they don't dry out. not saturated not too dry. Has to be moisture related but you want to keep the riots moist.

Yes this. Bleach everything and rinse well before trying again.

Yep. In process of trashing everything and am going to clean head to toe. Prolly buy new filters and tents as well. Just hacked a whole tent down because I now have mold up the side of my pots....fuuuuuck

Well you found the problem. Mold spores flying around isn't good. Don't destroy anything just bleach it and clean.Try my neem oil trick it really works. Your going to need a dehumidifier in that tent.

Could a clone carry this from the parent? I just bought brand new 3 piece trays and dome before this round. Only thing in common was the tents they were grown in. Hell I had even bought brand new smart pots because I was going down pot sizes for selections.

RH is around 60. And I open my tents and have oscillating fans on them through the day. Could simply an overcrowded tent be my problem? Had 9 -3 gallons in a 4x4. Usually run 5-5 gallons but was selecting this time so ran more in smaller pots?

I like to keep mine at 50%rh. Plants will sweat at night so its good to have a fan going when the lights are off. What your telling me doesn't seem bad. If you have mold in the grow room then you definitely need a dehumidifier. Maybe what ever you're using to check the rh is broken.

Could be I just use a temp/RH deal from Walmart. Also I use 400cfm wind tunnels for extraction and run them 24/7. I never would have expected mold but sure enough it's there. Also I did bring some plants in from outside last summer. Wonder if the little fuckers brought a pathogen in with them. Well thanks guys. I'm about to bleach the shit outta everything, and get new filters.

Buy a couple good thermometers and rh gauges. Walmart lacks quality. If to look at all of them in the store you'll see that they differ. Once you get your new gauge up I think you'll find you need a dehumidifier. Good luck keep us posted.

when I go to war on this, about 1-2 times per year

I get smart and try to avoid the worst of it by growing out of the spore temp zone ..fall/spring

but that often don't work, but avoiding the conditions that these spores find ideal is one strong method to deter any mold

good luck
