Hey Marine hope you don't mind be asking a Q on your thread here...
Anyone have tips or tricks on cloning from a flowering plant? My plants are 4 weeks into flower.
I took clones on their last week in veg but am feeling like I want a few more.
Like...how much longer will they take to root than vegging clippings and should I remove the popcorn bud from the branch I intend to clone?

dont stress over time my last clones took 3 weeks to root diffrent strains take longer or shorter time to root.
and the yellowing leaf is the cutting taking energy from the leaf to make roots all normal dont stress

As long as the inside of the dome has sprayed water still on it, humidity inside your dome is the correct level. No meters required. When it isnt wet, it isnt the correct humidity, that means mist your dome and clones more with fresh water. =)

Hello, this is my first grow and consequently my first cloning run. So far it's been 5 days and no roots yet. I know that it's just a matter of waiting but that's not what I'm entirely concerned about..I looked in the flood tray below the clones this morning and it pretty much bone dry. The rapid rooter cubes were/are still sobbing wet but I'm concerned I let them get too dry...any help would be appreciated. I can post pics of the clones if anyone wants to look at health just haven't taken any as of yet..so far out of 12 only 1 is still droopy.

my opinion would be to get rockwool cubes and a humidity dome and some clonex! i have been using rockwool cubes for almost 1 year and evrytime i make clones they root in less then 5 days and are ready to transplant at day 7..
but if you decide to use u rooter cubes, on the day u take the cuttings let sit for 24 hours in water and just put your cuttings in the cubes! hope this helps

After posting I went and checked on my clones. Clones from plants #1, #2 & #3. #1 was in flower when I took her clipping, #2&3 were in veg. Today (after 22 days!) the clone from #1 was busting out of her grodan mini cube with lots of roots! Woohoo! #2&3 are coming along a little slower but I'm sure they will show signs in a couple of days.

I tried the "traditional" way of cloning with all the humidity domes, misting, and watering of the media. Stressfull pain in the ass!! Got one of these awhile back, so easy i really don't understand why everyone is not using them...

You dont mist the clones at all above the neoprene? I dome and spray mine but that's because its a real job not a hobby grow so my time is dedicated, but for a leave and forget solution the aerocloner is really nice too. The only thing I didnt like with them is that once I toss them in Hydroton they are hard to stand up straight because there's no rockwool or rapidrooter to keep it standing right so young.......... Just curious is all!! Kitty

You can root clones in as fast as 5 days with hydro techniques. I saw a great tutorial in here somewhere and made a cloning bucket that has a floating mist maker, or fogger in it. It creates a fog that keeps things wet. The leaves don't even need misting. I tried cubes, peat, rapids, etc and just kept getting frustrated. Something in my environment just wasn't right, so I had to use more seeds for the next grow...

This is the way i clone and seen a fellow grower with the same idea as I had it is the cup of water in a window technique lol

The only thing I can add to this thread is I like to reverse regular growth temps to promote root growth!
I use a heater to set the water to 75 degrees and have the air temp at 70 I know this seems wrong but it works we are not growing leaves its roots were after!
You don't need a fancy cloner just a cup of water but with a bubbler the water will stay good for the whole cloning cycle and will not need to be changed!
No dome misting or pissing around just good roots on clones that don't yellow it doesn't get any easier!
Don't get me wrong I have done it the old way in a dome but the chance of bacteria and other pathogens is greatly reduced without a dome!!!!

Im gonna go ahead and say that aerator cloners are indeed the way to go. Easy and inexpensive to build, with awesome results to boot. I have done them multiple ways, from cloner trays, to soil, to just water, and then aerator cloners. they cut the time in half if not more.
