cloning in a week, how do I prep the mothers for success?

I am going to start taking clones in about a week or 2 and was wondering what steps do I need to take to prep the mothers so that they have the best chance of providing clones that survive?

I have read that you should leech the medium with straight water for a week prior, but I'm not sure the exact definition of leech. Does that just mean to use straight water in the res?

I'm pretty good on how to cut the clones, just wasn't sure about the leeching. I read that the leeching will help take down the nitrogen levels, which will help the clones with their root formation.

any advice is much appreciated!

just for info: using a drip irrigation system with 4" rockwool surrounded by hydroclay in grow bags. using only distilled water and the "recipe for success" which has the BC boost, BC grow, thrive alive b1 red, magiCal and sugar daddy.

yes flush or feed w/ a mild bloom solution instead of grow this is how i do it , and it works great for me

i feed with a B1 a day or two before cutting to help with roots and stress..i still want to giveing them "roots excelurator" and see if it helps?

Just make sure they go into it with some form of nutrients in the cell structure...
Never good to have them starved of energy before an attempt at initiating a survival mechanism
such as propagation..

While true too much nitrogen will impede root growth, some is needed.
This applies to certain species and isn't an all inclusive rule as well.

Some strains will blow out roots in 5 days if just exposed to the proper conditions.

The cloning environment and variables are what is crucial rather than prior conditions
so I feel you'll be fine.

Healthy cuts provide healthy clones.

While the stock plant is in the active vegetative growth stage, feed it with a good quality, all-purpose or high Nitrogen fertilizer. One week before taking a cutting feed the stock plants with a low nitrogen, high Phosphorus flowering fertilizer.

The flowering fertilizer will lower the amount of stored nitrogen in the plant and increase the amount of stored carbohydrates necessary for the production of roots. Spraying the foliage with water daily will accelerate this process.

I think the environmental conditions are the key to cloning set the air or room temp to 70 and the water temp to 76 and you will have roots in days not weeks lol!
