If you are staying in soil, it is so much easier to clone into soil...
If you are going any other medium, do not start in soil, it's harder to go from soil, to Hydro, as an example...
Plugs to Hydro for sure...
I clone into a 50% Miracle Grow "Seedling" soil mix...
mixed with 25% Perilite...
And 25% Vermiculite...
100%... every time... I never mist LEAVES....
I mist under leaves onto medium...
I have found: misting leaves, only over waters leaves and promotes droop...
The Miracle Grow seedling mix has enough nutes to get your clone through the root stage...
I get roots in 7-14 days, transplant soon after...
Of course, perfect conditions... and light perfect...
CFL's.... Find what works 100% never loose one, perfect... then stick with it...

I'm stuck in a logic trap here!

I don't mist cuttings ever, just the dome. Leave vents closed for first 48 then open em and mist the dome a couple times a day till you see roots. All u need is water ph'ed to 5.5-6.0 and cubes of some sort. I do way more in my actual cloning process, but if your broke, got 21 days to wait for roots, should get 90% success or more. If your clones are mushing and dieing they r 2 wet and you probably weren't using clean tools. I don't worry about rewetting cubes till I move a cube and it's just about to dry to leave a wet spot under it. Then fill another tray with your watering solution about 1/3 the height of your cubes and set them in there for a minute and they are watered.

Soil is just take a cutting, root gel, not root gel, put in a solo cup, water, put by a soft white light, and wait for new growth.... New growth equals roots

This is exactly right, though I do mist my cuttings while I mist the dome and top soil as well. 48 hours full closed vents, then 1/4-1/2 open keeping humidity & temp around 70% & 70F. Hasn't failed me yet. Not once!

70F? I usually go with 80-85F for clones, easy.

It's just the natural ambient temp of my subterra garden. It has worked for me. Basically if you can give them an environment you'd be comfortable in, they're comfortable too!

I think since cannabis is so versatile, clones are able to survive in a wide range of environments. We can all do what we do and have success.

No 1 exact right way brother! We all learn daily

my first clone a total accident. I was vegging under a hydro shop t5 setup I hadn't hung yet, and was stupidly raised by books. needless to say, I knocked it down by accident during watering, taking a prized dominant branch. I had no choice as it was totally separated from the plant. I doused my snips down with alcohol, and made a 45 degree cut, cut two fan leaves off the bottom, and skinned the "bark" off the last 3 inches. dipped it in water then rooting powder, and threw that bitch right into seedling soil. I cut 50% of the fan leaves off, or in half. it drooped the first two days and has been stout and healthy since. I did put a dome on it, (a cut in half ketchup bottle), and no seedling mat, my grow room is around 66 degrees. just a newbie but that's what works for me. obviously, foliar feed having no roots is a bit rough. full nutes after a week, mine never stutter. im on 16 now similar results, my 2 cents....
