I've never done it that way, But I think you'll want to cover the bottles so no light will get to the roots.

ive made clones with no rooting gel. in a cup of water and put it on my window sill. They rooted in like 6 days thats with light to the roots they dont like that. roots thrive in dark moist conditions. the best way to clone is rooting hormones be it gel or powder. cut at a angle dip in solution then straight into soil or rockwool keep a flourescent light on 18 to 24 hours light its up to u good luck

I have clone a white widow & lavander, i have taken three clones from the mother tree and iv'e been very succesful, no rooting gel no bottle of water, i grew my clones from cutting and placing them in peet and kept them in a bubble dome under 24 hour florescent light, clones need humidity to thrive on, here is my first clone, first time ever.

I think you should switch to soil insted of water, if you notice when you give a plant to much water it gets realy sick from over watering, well you might have a mold problem and it will travel all the way up the plant and the plant will die. take for example, you can put any plant in a vase of water, how long do you think there going to last before they die, plants need soil to surrvive, its the nutes and potas of the soil that gives it all it needs, plus a little fert.

Give them 18 hours. Im curious to see your progress. I once tried to clone in a cup of water but it molded up. I just cut 2 clones yesterday and they sitting in a cooler under a light.

Change out your water every day or so with un-chlorinated water, maybe wrap foil or paper around the bottle to keep the light out, put it on 18/6 light schedule and you'll be fine. No need for humidity dome or misting. Should have roots in about 5-7 days.

Don't you hate it when you ask a question and nobody actually answers it - but they have no problem telling you it won't work or their way is better.
