Cloning Question

I have one plant right now it is almost four weeks old and I am beginning to wonder if I should clone now or wait until it shows sex? Any information on cloning would be appreciated

Cloning should be done after the mother plant is mature. This can be identified when the plant starts to alternate nodes.

yea and deffinatly dont wanna end up with male clones if ur plant isent feminized that you know of. YOU can wait till the flowering stage to clone if you want. it is not impossible and it dosent hurt ur mother plant although know when you do this you will lose some budding spots on the bottom take from the bottom if you do this. but you know what because it dosent have to supply energy to the lower part of the plant it should focus most of its energy growing buds up top near your warm light. what are you gonna flower with? anybody correct me if im wrong?

Cloning after the plant has started the flowering cycle is for amateurs that don't have enough adversity already.

The effect of taking a clone in flower is that it branches out as if it were topped very small. I've seen it called moster-cropping. I really like this technicque though it takes a little longer to root. Yield is always higher on my monster-cropped gals. I wouldn't necessarily say it's for amateurs. Actually, at what point did you realize you were a pro Little Tommy?

I am not claiming to be a pro but a new grower doesn't need to burden themselves with clones that are difficult to root and have a higher failure rate. A little patience goes a long way. Take a cutting from a mother plant in veg, root it, flower it to determine sex (if sex is unknown) and then take your clones as needed while in veg state. The success rate is higher and the grower will feel a sense of accomplishment rather than having all the clones fail and the mother plant too far along to clone successfully. I am not being contrary, just trying to save a new grower some grief.

i agree cloning is not one of the easy steps in growing marijuana it takes time lots of it and dont ever expect 100% sucess there will be times that some cutting just wont root. start slow

Im sorry but i do just have to say this is my first grow and out of the six bag seeds i planted, one ended up a female i took 6 flowering clones and if you take care of them the right way like you should any other clone you will do fine my first try at cloning I got 100% even though it was supposed to be harder and they rooted dramatically in just over a week from my understanding about what a veg clone would take.
