Cloning

Hello everyone..
I am a newbie to cloning and this is my 1st attempt.
What iv done so far is made the cuttings, dipped them in some cloning gel and had them under a humidity dome for 12 days now..
Iv used rockwool and pete pellets, today i noticed whilst opening to the dome that there is a small root bumps on one of the rockwool ones, i pulled one of them apart as i had enough and there are no definite roots but there are root bumps.. How long does it take for root bumps to turn to roots? and is it better to take the humidity dome off now or leave it on for a few more days?
Iv attached a picture do these clones look like they will make it?

Your RW cubes look far to wet. They should be 20g wet + plus the weight of cutting. I use a humidity dome for the whole two weeks before I transplant them. You should also use a heat mat set around 84 degrees.

I was suspecting that they might be to wet, i guess i should stop watering them for now? let them dry out a little which was my plan.. but thanks for confirming that..
On Monday it will be two weeks.. So my question is , if 2 weeks goes by and you still cant see roots popping out but u know there are root bumps, would it be suggested to take off the dome to help evaporation
Since possibly to much moisture has slowed down root growth? just kinding wanted to know where or what to do from here.

^Agreed, keep the dome on til they take root. I also agree on the heat mat, mine works wonders, especially when it's colder, in the winter months. Mine don't have a thermostat, but I set it to kick on and off, every 15 minutes, and it works great. Running it constant, is too much for them, and they wilt. Just an idea, if you don't have a thermostat.(that's with ambient room temp of about 72* or a little less)

You don't have to but if its not warm enough in your cloneing thing you might want to pick up a heating pad. People said that clones tend to root faster if they have warmth from the bottom but if humid is a problem to you can rig up some thing and have a dish of water in there and the heating pad will heat up the water to cause more humid.

Well it takes me usually 7-10 days. If you're seeing root bumps then you're on your way. Sometimes though when the weather is cold it takes longer. What ph did you have your water before wetting your media? It should be 5.5 you can squeeze some of the excess water out of the rw that would help out a lot.

Make sure you open your dome daily as to let fresh air in and old out. Heat deff helps get the roots going as already been said. Personally I like to ween off my cuttings from the dome for the last four days or so giving them a little longer each day without it and just mist the leavesonce or twice each day giving them time to dry a little and breath

Would squeezing the RW cubes not damage any new roots that might be forming? im a little scared to that? i thought it might be safer to just open the dome more often and water less.
iv read that if the humidity is to high and the plants are feeding well through the leaves they dont focus to hard on root production since its not needed, im not sure how correct that is but seems to make some sense,.
i will keep them in the dome for now and hopefully in the next few days i will see something.. thanks for the replies guys

You can always feel how wet the rockwool cubes are. For me when they need to be watered I take them out and out them into a dish and poor water into them let sit for a few seconds then put them back into the clone house and leave the lid off for a bit and that makes some of the water evap but this works differently for everyone so you have to find out what the sweet spot is for your growing space.

Yes, don't squeeze them. Also, you are right about the humidity slowing down root growth. Some people don't use a dome. I do because my cuttings will curl w/o it. It has adjustable vents and I only give them enough to keep them perky.

rockwool an peatpellets never worked for me i use a homemade ez cloner an have 95 to 100% succses
