right o then do you have a hydroponics shop near you if you do then great you can get everything from there if not you might have to get some stuff online like your nutrients and lights so you want a good quality soil and some perlite and you want to mix the perlite in to the soil a ratio of about 20% perlite and 80% soil for your light your your gonna need a ballast (power pack basiclly) to connect your reflector to and lets say your doing 2 plants just for this then you gonna need at least a 250w hps bulb nutrients wise (and this is where your prob gonna need to go online to get these and your lighting system) i use canna nutes so i have canna vega terra for my veg stage and canna flores terra for my flowering plus when im flowering i also add canna boost accelerator to help with my buds as for the water tap water is fine just as long as you leave it sit in a bucket or 2 for about 48 hours just to let the chlorine evaporate from the water as this will burn the tips of your leaves hope this helps you someway to getting started

What kind of soil does it have to be? and with the perlite in will have to put anything else at the bottom of the pots for drainage etc? apart from obviously a tray to catch it all on.

This is one side of my closet below and the wood look is not real wood and i'm wondering what type of paint would you say i should apply to this as i don't want it just dribbling straight down aha,

Yeah cheers after having a ponder around iv'e seen a reflector, lamp and ballast for 87.99 GBP does this sound around the right price as i'm new to this?
And some canna soil should be okay, i'm going to go for feminized seeds for my first attempt.

That sounds rather cheap for that......is it a 250w,400w or 600w? How many plants are you planning on growing?

Im new to it aswell....2 weeks into flower on my 1st grow

Thats a 250w, and i'm planning on growing 2 plants but i'm buying the feminized seeds so i shouldn't have to plant more in-case of a male.

Hmmm250w for 2 plants....i was recommended to allow 200w per plant thru flowering but id check with the more eperienced growers on here

Femizied seeds are all well but they can still go hemmie im sure but yet again dont quote lol

the babies are looking lovely right now,2 weeks of flowering done after tomorrow is over with....White Widow incase you were wondering....ill try and post some pics on my thread tonight just before lights out time

I got a joiner in too build me a sliding mirror doored wardrope in a spare room with measurements of length= 8ft breadth=2ft height=10ft....purely for cosmetics reasons,makes it look just like a normal bedroom to strangers in the house. Had it lined with Mylar sheeting for reflection. i have all 3 bulbs and ballasts in 250w,400w and 600w for different stages of the grow. 2 large oscilating fans installed along the roof of the enclosure and 2 smaller fans at the bottom facing upwards into the lower reaches of the plants. Air intake on the top left of the tent and an outlet at the bottom left to help with circulation.

Its my 1st time so its just trial and error and constant referral to the growers bible(if you dont have this then its highly recommended)

Growing 3 plants just now and they are approx 5ft tall and flowering well

How long they been flowering for?

Well if i do it right the first time wiht the grow area then thats it done and dusted

They are on the 13th day in flower...or 2nd week of 9 weeks

8th week i shall cut to 8hrs of light and no nutes but just water
9th week i shall go t24/7 dark and no water or nutes

Ive heard that encourages the plant too protect the bud and draws the goodness from the leaves into the bud but im waiting on confirmation from some of the eperts on here but the responses arent great to be honest.....already thinking of shifting forums

& i get paid at the end of this month so my plan is to get little bits during the month such as my fan and thermomoters and bits then when i get paid buy the light so should be setting up by the end of the month hopefully

No not from the bible....heard that from a grower in Canada but not confirmed info

A decent 400w setup from scratch, if you need ventilation and etc especially, is going to run up to $400-$500 USD. It's an investment, but just think.. one plant at harvest grown decently well will pay for it all.

No feed at all until 2 weeks into veg,theres enough nutes in the soil to sustain it for that period

Yeah, so water? or not even water? When i water my plant and some of the water drains into the tray under neath the pot should i leave the water there or empty the tray?

No you need to water them but just dont add feed to the water for the first 2 weeks....not too sure about the trays underneath as im using 20l pots so i tend not to get overflow of water but i wouldnt expect there to be any problem with it laying in the tray....if the soil get too dry then im sure they will use the water from the tray too

If you are just adding a little water you shouldn't have much runoff if you wait until they are dry and need it. If you soak the soil and need some runoff, take them to the kitchen or the bath and fill it up and let it drain until it stops dripping from the bottom. You don't want a ton of water sitting there.. increased chance for mold, fungus and bugs if it's uncovered. And if you get runoff salt buildup and the roots take a dip you could get some minor nute burn.

A little water will naturally collect, I tend to dump it every few days and rinse the tray out.
