closet grow single pot

First time growing, Ive decide I want to grow in a closet, I have yet to buy a cupboard but the room I have to work with is DEPTH - 2.5 ft WIDTH - 3ft HEIGHT - 7.5ft
I was thinking of growing one big plant in a 5 gallon pot. How does that idea sound?
Can you reccomend a basic setup/guide aslo lights and that?
I hope to have a room for a mother aswell. any tips suggestions would be great.

lol, you basically asked someone to write a novel of years of experience for u...go buy a grow book, by jorge cervantez, i think it's called the medical marijuana growers bible. and u can get it at borders and barnes and noble. but basically, make sure you have plenty of air going both in and out of the room, keep your temparature down below 80. In the space i wouldn;t go bigger than 1 600 watt lamp. throw your mothers under 6500k cfl shop lights at 20-24 hr/day light...i could go on for hours
