Closet Setup, Advice Welcome!

Hello everyone. Ive been seeing many nice grows on this site! You guys and gals be kicking some metaphorical ass in the weed growing realm! Im glad I was banned from that other site, haha

Well, Ive been trying to setup a closet grow but Im thinking of maybe moving my flower tent out of my closet and go for a bigger (4x4) but fan noise is an issue, in the closet with doors closed, its virtually silent...

My current setup is roughly a 7' or 8' x 2' closet. Ive got a 3' x 2' x 53" "Mother" Tent and just recently acquired Gorilla "Shorty" grow tent for Flowering.The Shorty is 2.5' x 2' x 60" (extendable to 70"). Prior to that I had a standard 2'x2' that Ive since put back in the box and is up for sale for a discount (never used just setup and checked for leaks), it was just too small.





Inside the flower Tent is a 630w CMH enhanced red to 3000K, housed in a (proper) air cooled hood. Its a tight fit but the sides of the tent are really flexible. One problem is, in my closet I have a max height of 60" or 5', so keeping temps down is going to be tough but luckily I have direct access to the cool air from under the house. Ive run ducting to an outside vent underneath the house as well. So basically I leave one hole open for cool air to be sucked in through the vents in the bottoms of the tents



Ill be hanging a 6" Inline fan from bungee cords right above the holes to the crawlspace which will be exhausting both tents possibly but with the Mother Tent, during the day I can keep temps down to around 80 degrees F by just opening the flaps (one side opening) and point my room fan at it on low/medium and they are actually growing quite well surprisingly considering outside temps are getting into the mid 80s. Im only worried about keeping the flower tent cool atm, so Ill be running the lights after 6pm. Maybe 8pm to 8am.

(Below pic is just to show the setup, Ive since removed the fan from the mount and hung inside my Mother Tent. Its a cool little white inline fan)

Yep! Running at 600w

I've watched friends pull over 2 pounds of THICK buds from 2 plants using SCROG and 600w HPS in same size. In some cases, closer to 3 pounds

You gonna say it's too much light?

Ya over 100 w per ft2 is pushing the limits and will require cooling i think.

My 315 was getting temps up to 82-84 in a 4x4x7 in a basement with 68f ambient....altho it wasnt in a air cooled hood as yours is, so thats def gonna make a good difference in your favor.


Corey is one of the good ones around here, if hes offering advice or opinions, id seriously consider and question what hes saying.

Im gona say its too much yeah, at least past the point of benefit. A 315 would be more than enough.
However its your grow and cmh is a great spectrum, if the plants stay happy then its just a case of using more power than needed to both light and then combat the heat.

As far as your friends weights, Im gona sound like a dick here but nobody's pulling 2 pound dry in a bit over 2x2 space.
That would be world record breaking.
Are they weighing wet weed?
Do you have an evidence?

Some people who have been growing decades struggle to hit 3lb in a 5x5 which is 5 times the area you are talking about.

Anyhow don't take my comments personally, I would be happy to be proven wrong and hope you do and document the grow here.

I just had to ask because that wattage would stand out to anyone here as been obscene overkill.
