First time grower. I have a plant in a 5 gallon bucket and it is approximately 18 inches tall. I believe a bigger planter is in order. Can i put it in a clothes basket designed with holes throughout, ot would something solid ne better? She is outside all the time.

You could put it in ground too
I would vote for the ground, too...if he has a place to put it.

18" could be a little big to be putting in another pot. One problem is trying to get it out of the bucket without damaging the root system. You would almost have to cut the sides of the bucket to get it out.

You can grow a nice plant in a 5 gal bucket. Since this is your first grow I would say just go with what you have and enjoy it.

Can you show a picture?

I would love to put her in the ground. However, I live along a bluff and my soil is rocky and dry.

The plant looks really nice. I would like to see a side picture. From what I can see from the top it looks like it might be perfect for manifolding.

It's not that hard to do and makes a quite an impressive plant.

I’ve grown Elephant Ears, bunches of flowers and other ornamentals in clothes baskets for years.

I've decided to simply leave Potunia in herb5 gallon bucket and give her lots of tlc. Thanks everyone!
Since this is your first grow I think that's a good idea. You can watch it grow and see all the little things you have to do, depending on what you want it to be. Just don't try to get to fancy with all the nutes. From what I've seen that's where most of the problems start.

Enjoy your grow and keep us posted.
