CMH low par output? Any insight?

The low frequency square wave ballasts provide a much more constant maximum voltage than the high frequency ballasts, I agree with the others, the ballast is probably causing the issue you are seeing. I love CMH and would definitely get a 1,000 DE CMH bulb the second I have space to try it out. For me, right now, LED is a better solution simply due to the conditions I'm working with, but I miss the CMH light during winter time. I like to sit under it like a turtle. I grew with HPS for a decade and you notice an immediate difference when you switch to CMH-not trashing HPS by any means, they still work great.
I would be tempted now i have the bulbs to hold on to them and one day soon hopefully get hold of the right ballasts and do a run with them, it would be in a 9x5 with 2x600w cmh and one 600w hps in the centre. Be interested to see what that would produce like compare to 3x hps

I'm honestly not sure if they actually produce a greater yield than HPS. I "think" they do, but the problem is, I'm a better grower all around now than I was when I used HPS, which was 1999 through 2008 or so. So it could be that I've just optimized other aspects to gain the greater yields that I see under CMH. But one thing I'm 100% certain of is that the quality of the CMH buds is better. Idk, maybe you could get the same effect with HPS and added UV, I've never tried it. I love the quality of the CMH buds. I really like setups with mixed lights, like CMH and LED, I imagine adding CMH along with HPS would get nice results.

Yea i have recently spent a fair amount upgrading my room with new exhaust fans, the g.a.s enviro controller and thought these would be a nice addition as i have heard that the majority say bud quality is definitely better from CMHs and I’d like to see for myself. Thanks for the info though people. Definitely glad I checked my pars now and not just listened to what i was told about them working fine

Is that a low frequency square wave? I think OP is probably trying to run CMH using a high frequency digital like an Apollo or iPower.
Yes it is, made by Philips.
I used the big bulbs, never tried the newer ones.
I found this thread where it says the 600w cmh by maxibright runs on 600w magnetic ballast .

I dont get it you can buy a 630w de or 2 bulb for around 200 bucks
The new 1000w de cmh is on sale on Canadian Amazon for 230 with a bulb. Why fuck with weird conversion bulbs?

Tbh honest mate I didn’t have any major intentions of buying any lol. Watched a YouTube video of a grow with comparable yields but much more frost and density so got chatting with the guy in the shop and after him saying i could run them with the ballasts i have I thought why not give it a try

Yea this ones more of a hippie, I’m sure he knows a bit but he spends his time growing shrooms nowadays lol. Price wise tho i will be looking unto upgrading my lighting next, I’m working in a 9x5 so i guess it’s either completely new 630de cmh kits (probably 2 then a hps in the middle 3 weeks into flower) or save up and get 2 good LEDs?

This is getting silly. Cmh conversion bulbs, dimming cmh. Lol. You know a certain wattage bulb is meant to burn at said wattage or the spectrum produced isn't the same

Not sure if he's selling you bulbs that no body uses. He prob said this when you left. 'hey boss you know those bulbs that have been sitting here for years you said I'd never sell? Well guess what?!'

Yes i see my nativity in thinking he knew better but I’m new to the growing scene and am certainly not stupid it was just a mistake I’ll add to my list. No harm done considering he’ll take them back off me, theres a lot to learn in this game:bigjoint:

Lmao. Nonsense? I knew 'someone like you' would spout off some bad advice.
Don't dim cmh bulbs. Not only is it dangerous it's counter productive. But hey. You do you
not bad advice to the op the cmh is a great light. if dimming was a problem there wouldnt be a dimmer switch on the ballast. know it all mf
