Co-Plants?

So in my indoor garden, i was thinking about adding something else to it for kicks. what grows well in the same conditions as my mj would? it would be in seperate soil and all, i was just thinking things like temp and lighting. i have some jalapeno and tomato seeds lying around (i know a tomato might be a good choice, but id rather do something else). any thoughts?

Hahaha i need to look into this. What if you got Weed that had a nice spicy flavor to it and then you got jalepenos that got you high!!!! those would be my two favorite things ever. There both already my two favorite things but if the jalepenos got you high and the weed had a spice that would be so amazing. Lets try breeding them or something lol or try the same soil thing

You may want to look for plants that need less light?
If you can grow stuff off to the side, so to speak.
Wouldn't you want the majority of the intense light to grow the weed?
I mean if you've got more room to grow stuff, you're not growing enough weed. lol j/k

lol probo your right! but for now i need to keep smell and suspicion at a COMPLETE minimum so i dont necessarily need to try to pack 4 plants into my closet just yet. as for light consumption, coming from the ballas, i didnt really think that having a smaller plant near there would really take all that much light FROM the mj plant would it? i mean if its a bit off to the side (the ballast is 4ft wide) wouldnt it only be thriving off of light thats not really hitting the plant directly anyways?

You can make a carbon filter for super cheap, under $20, and then you wouldn't have to worry about smell. I was however wondering the same thing myself. Would strawberry work?? I doubt it but if they did I'm making some room for them hahaha

Basil is another good one. Also, supposedly Chamomile flowers help replenish nutrients in the soil in a symbiotic way... I may throw a few in my pots and see what happens.

I have peppers growing off to the sides in my tent. Even with the lower light the red habaneros that I planted a while ago (the oldest of all the peppers going) seem to love it.

Hops plants and micro-brew some special beer later!

Read this:

And:

Hops (Humulus lupulus)

Hops Information

Humulus lupulus is the botanical name of the bine (similar to a vine) more well known as the common hop plant. The Humulus genus is part of the Cannabaceae family. Besides Humulus, another genus in the Cannabaceae family is Cannabis.

Humulus lupulus is one of three species in the Humulus genus. The other species are Humulus japonicus (more commonly known as asian hop) and Humulus yunnanensis (more commonly known as yunnan hop). Some consider Humulus lupulus the only species within the Humulus genus, with japonicus and yunnanensis as varieties.

The most common commercial use of Humulus lupulus is as an additive to beer. Humulus lupulus is used in the production of beer as a natural preservative, it also adds a bitter taste to beer and contributes to the psychoactive effects.

Brewing cannabeer is on my short-list of life goals.

Ian, great advice, if something like that had some evidence behind it (ill start looking here in a bit) then i would definitely be on board, but without evidence i just dont see myself needing chamomile lol, id probably just stick to the peppers.

as for the Brain Death, omg what a great idea, thats all i can say. Being someone who would 100% of the time choose a bong over a bottle, its not necessarily my forte to do anything alcohol related, let alone brew. But i do have some friends who make their own..... maybe ill pitch the idea that way ;)

I hear you about the bong over a bottle thing - I'm the same way in that I hardly ever drink now (here in the US). But when I lived in Germany I developed a taste for good beer and have wanted to try micro-brewing something similar to what I could find there. Just seemed like a natural progression to want to grow my own hops for it since I'm really into the growing hobby... but then imagine combining the two? Hell, I mean you could even use the CO2 waste byproduct from fermentation in the grow room for the plants. How cool is that?

Sorry to kill your thread by the way. lol

no killing here at all, just more useful discussion ;) ya i like to drink still on occasion, and i wont pretend i dont. i couldnt say how many drinks ive had in the last six months, but i could estimate that ive been drunk less than twice.... but iam stone everyday, all day lol

the co2 byproduct is a good thought too. thats exactly what i mean, i would have never thought about that.

on the subject of plants, ive also been thinking about garlic? iam not too familiar with how it grows though, as a bulb plant i imagine i would need a good bit of soil to support a yield of more than one clove lol

nah actually garlic would be a good one. I have some in my garden outside - it was just regular grocery store stuff that sprouted, so I planted it. It's real easy to grow, and does well inside. doesn't get too tall, doesn't need a ton of room. go for it
