co2 bottle setup. help!

Well i have a 4 1/2 ft tall propane bottle and fitting for blowing up balloons. Can i use the tank for co2? And if i run a tube to the nozzle attachment, placing the Chord around the grow tent with holes. Is it safe to give out little shots of co2? (opening the bottle for a minute, then closing). It would beTemporary setup for a month or two.

And what's the right way to set up a co2 system? I'm not interested in the propane generates, it's for a indoor closet and the thought of a propane leak won't leave my mind.

If your planning on going the co2 route with a good setup youd need an expensive co2 ppm meter that can adjust between 1000-2000ppm with a regulator and a 20lb-50lb tank would suffice for a good week or two depending on your room size/plants, also id only recommend going the co2 route if you got a nice controlled enviroment than playing hit or miss in the dark.

ask your local steel and supply stores and see wether or not theyd fill up that bottle, im not entirely sure, and having it in bursts would work but your co2 ppm would be fluctuating constantly and you run risk of to much co2 (2000ppm+) which is detrimental to your plants yield. also try to keep it around 85-90 if you are running the co2 route and try to get a ppm meter.

co2 has to have a min psi rating of 1800 propane in a lpg. there is a dot spec on the tank/handle propane will have like a 4bl 240 or something. they range but mostley stay under 1000 psi. I would rather have a propane leak. you can't smell co2 much and it will kill you faster.

I am 100% sure that they will not mix gases in tanks that are used, if it did not have CO2 in before. If they do, I would take my business elsewhere, cause they are gonna get you killed. They will not fill a propane tank with CO2, break down and buy a used CO2 tank and there are places out there that you can do a swap out when it runs out, that is the cheapest way I have found in dealing with tanks Don't try to use things outside thier realm of design, this is how people become statistics.

Listen to this person!!! I worked for a research company where I had to set up their Co2 incubators and they had two tanks on an auto switcher. This was fun to set up as I had to get everything going for them, but dangerous as any gas is under pressure. And NEVER mix your tanks as Asmallvoice has said! Teflon tape is your friend!!!!!

Just a fyi you can change service in many cylinders. I've made alot of propane tanks into so2 tanks and other low pressure gasses. anything o2,n2,he and ar can be switched just about any time. Flammables have limits to what they can be used for. It takes work to switch out of co2 cuz it's a dirty gas. As far as Teflon tape goes it just don't stop leaks. It's a thread lub nothing more.

I know that there are services that can do these things, but a newbie is not one to discuss this with, period. Encourage safety above all else. on a side note, by the time he went through all of that, he will be way past what a used 20lb or larger CO2 tank and a soleniod /regulator setup can be purchased for.

As for safety, I say never use co2 in your home. Very stupid thing to do.
