Co2

Hello Evry1;
New to the site and growing in general. However; I'm not your usual novice. I've actually taken the time to read countless books on indoor growing, but now I'm ready to start.............

My question is about CO2. I know co2 can improve the efficiency of your garden dramatically. My question is what methods of generating co2 are best? Originally I was researching co2 generators vs. co2 welding tanks, but then I stumbled across co2 bags that contain chemicals within it that naturally produce co2 for up 6months and are supposed to be suitable for 4-6 plants each per bag. Which method is best?? It seems to me that these bags may be good because they're $35-$45 each and last for 6months. I'm not experienced with any of this so I really don't know tho. I appreciate your help

I use the bags and tanks. Use the bags because my tanks do go dry from time to time. And to be honest if your not sealed and running filters sucking air in and out of your room co2 is a waste of money. At best you could get to 400ppm. 300 being normal air. But if your sealed it's a must.

okay i need u to elaborate....what does it mean to be "sealed"? i assume this means an air tight room. and what does it mean to "run filters"? Lost on that one. My room just has an intake and exhaust. the exhaust is at 750cfm. does this mean that my exhaust fan will be sucking the co2 right out of my room?? if so, then I can see why the bags are the best option because buying expensive tanks and generators would be a waste in that case.

Your exhausting the room it's a waste all around. By sealed I mean no air in no air out. It's sealed so you must make your own air for plants. If you can't get above 800ppm of co2 your wasting money. And by sucking outside air in and room air out you won't get what you want. Look up CGE grows. Controlled Grow Envierments. And yes the test on the bags can bring you up to the levels needed on small grows. But there test are done in sealed rooms. Just trying to save you some money here.

Or you can look in my sig and see my sealed room. Don't think it was sealed at the start but later on it is. I'll look.

I brewed 5 gallon buckets of sugar and yeast, but would just buy a tank if I want to do it again. It's nasty shit to maintain. Might be good for some final flowering for a couple weeks but to brew it full time is nasty.

Yeah you need to seal the area if you're trying to build up a high concentration in that area. I spent like $350 to buy a real time meter to know what the level was. I could add sugar until I built up to a certain level, then it would taper slowly over the week and I'd add more sugar/yeast, then dump it and start new after a few cycles. It smells like ass in the meantime.

I never knew there were bags... hmm I still personally would go with a tank that I can refill, for sure....

One more question. How do you measure how much co2 is in the room?? is there an instrument for this?

Yeah the real time meters are expensive as hell though, like $300. There are tubes you can crack open that cost like $3 each if you buy a bunch and they're 1 time use each....

The tubes are almost 10 bucks each after you buy the first 2 with the kit at $15. If you move your air 3 times an hour your around 300ppm. I don't have a netter or test. I'm on a timer. I tested the first few weeks and found where I like. So I run around 600-1000ppm. Don't need all the fancy stuff. I'm not going for the big stuff just good and controlled. Same stuff everytime.
