yeap, seems about right, but at what distance did you measure for the 50,000? and how far apart are your cobs from each other? Have a pic?
Cob/plant distance/Luxmeter/4 COB'S per plant @35Watt each, 140W total....

Don't get carried away with concerns about lux. For one thing, you don't know how accurate that cheap lux meter is. For another, 50,000 lux sounds like plenty of light for a 2x2!

no doubt, 50,000 lux will get it done. BUT, thats the tops, and if the plants are large, 10,000 lux lower doesnt. In a 2x2, its necessary to scrogg for a healthy return, that is the key.
under LEDs, id imagine pretty dam bad, lol.. 400 PPFD with shit dialed in right, can get your a nice haul.. But im talking proper nutes, proper VPD, proper water, proper medium, proper containers, and LEAVE THE DAM THINGS ALONE AND LET THEM GROW, lol....

thank you, my first build.
Well yeah those heatsinks are not meant to hold more then 40 watts each, that is why i am a little concerned now.
With all the conversations and talk i wa sunder the impression that 35 watts per square foot are a good coverage, maybe 40-50 max.
But now i hear about the flux and measured and to achieve the 50-60.000 lux id have to blow them up the 290watts.
So my question is if i shouldnt really worry about the lux and just go by watts and see what happens??!
Just keep it @ 140-200 watts per 50 liter pot/per plant.............you know?!

Also my man.......for my next build, you think if i add just a plane thick layer of extra aluminium on to the bottom of my heatsink that i will get better cooling just by doing so??!

tuff call man, cobkits would be able to answer that bro, thats why i went with the active cooled heatsinks, they cool up to 400W each. but even if you have a hot day in the tent, those cobs will diminish in light because the efficiency goes down. Even mine, i notice if it gets to 85-86F, the lux starts to drop. it is a little more wiring and all that, but worth it i think. Did you get a kill-a-watt meter to know what your watts are when you dim them down?
as far as rolling with it, your call man, only why to know if they work is using them for a run. You could probably get 4 pc fans to put ontop of your heatsinks, that might be an option for ya at this point, to get more outta them..

never used the cxb cobs, so i cant say. but the cxb has been the go to before cxm hit the scene i guess you can say. ALOT of people are very happy with the cxb's, and i m sure i would be too, i just liked the cxm's because i like Migro's and this is the same brand they use. and the price is better, lol..

Yeah i got my watt meter for sure......will just run them @140-160Watts total from the wall and it should be all good....30cm distance...12 inches.

and Salah, who know man, they might even rock it out with what your using watts wise. Without a PAR meter, its really tuff to judge other then growing with them.. The thing about the Luminus, not many of us use them, and I cant find ANYONE that will measure the PAR for Us. As to why i really wanted a PAR meter, to atleast help the folks looking to get them, with a bit more info then, "hey these work and are efficient", I personally dont give a crap about efficiency, I want the efficacy and spectrum to grow decents meds. I had a PAR meter i ordered, but got scammed by the seller and waiting freakin 3 weeks for something that never got freakin mailed. Got my money back, but ugg, it was a deal, to good to be true deal i guess, LOL.. Soooo, im going to get one, i just cant right now. even if i could of rented one,lol.

Don't worry about the lux. You'll be just fine at 40w per COB. That's more than enough for a 2x2.

dont know if i wanna scrog or not........was thinking just to fimm once get 4 going.....and just grow a big tree all the way to the ceiling 8.8 feet high.....of course trellice and bend a little to keep it pretty even and defoliate....but mainly just let it grow big.
dont know yet.....

wont happen bro, not on 140 watts. Science says light diminishes by the inch. You might get 40,000 lux on the tops, and for each inch down, you will lose major lumens. take you meter and see what you get 12 inches from a fixed distance, imagining your tops height, and take note the further you get away from that height.
Take my word for it man, youll be mad and upset when it doesnt turn out the way you think it will, or hope it will.
If you scrog, EVERY top created, will get nearly the same amount of light, needing very little penetration. These cobs are great, but thinking your going to get even a 3 foot tall plant to produce, is VERY high hoping.
Top when they get the 3rd node, let grow out, top again, and again and again, scrogging in the process.
Do that for a month, then flip. but im tellin ya bro, 140 watts, youll be lucky to get them even 24 inches tall, and be a good producer in the process.
Take my word for it man, youll be mad and upset when it doesnt turn out the way you think it will, or hope it will.

and fimming, is highly over rated, think about the real name, Fk I missed. Fk, meaning dang it, i fked it up. You realllly need to know what your doing to get a perfect fim too. Look at my plants, the far Right was fimmed, by accident, nothing special, and still ended up with a single top cola.
