But that's just it. A 100W COB or Board is going to sit on almost a 2x2 square. I wouldn't call that "properly spaced".That's why I wrote spaced properly

I usually see between 1% and 2% of light loss for every inch the height is increased. So I'd say you lose between 10% and 20% of the light by going from 5" to 15". Not sure if you feel that's very little, but in my personal opinion that seems quite a lot actually.Very little of that light is being wasted on walls, I found best response for my plants was at a 15" distance
So yes it will work just "fine" of course, but I don't see how this is any better than using a led strip fixture. Or better than using say 9 COBs or 16 COBs (equally distributed) over that space.
