Coco and hydroton: ph 5.8 or 6.5?

My understanding is that if growing in soil, your nutrient solution should be around 6.5. If growing hydroponically, your nutrient solution should be around a 5.8. Well, I grow in a combination of 60/40 coco and hydroton. My understanding of coco and hydroton is that it can be treated as a soil grow or as a hydroponic grow. I water every 3 days (adding CaMg). So... should I be aiming for a 5.8 or a 6.5? For the last 2 years I've just been shooting for the middle of that range... and dropping toward the bottom of that range as I get a couple weeks into flowering (I think I read to do that somewhere). I've had great results, but I've always wondered if things could be improved by tweaking the pH more toward 6.5 or 5.8. Anyone know anything?

Current Grow: All are blackjack except the one in front. That one is an Aurora Indica clone. All are 1 week into flower. pH about 6.0 right now.

I'd keep doing what your doing unless your plants tell you they need some TLC. Some strains might want that 6.5, others 5.8. You would probably be safe for most of them staying around 6.2

if im starting a strain i dont know i ph everything to 6.0 until i see how there growing then adjust up or down. plants will grow well at 6.0 but some will grow faster or stay greener or get alot bigger flowers with a ph of 6.5

fucked up ph can kill ur plants. coco is considered hydro. aim for 5.8 if u go 6.5 and up u could burn the fuck out of them if they havent hardened or already gotten used to the higher ph not to mention cause all sorts of wierd other shit to happen. same can happen if its to low. aim for 5.8 and yes soil is generally averaged at a good 7.

just watered this morning... ph was 5.9. They seem to be responding quite well. My pH has always been between 5.8 and 6.0 while blooming... I guess I'll just continue doing that. Thanks.
