Coco/ EWC

I’m thinking of trying coco / ewc
Does it change the ph of the coco ?
How much would you top dress for a 5gallon fabric pot indoors ?
Would you water drain to waste or just saturate it
Can you combine it with some bottle nutrients the odd watering without getting really bad nutrient burn?
Does anyone have some pictures of just running coco ewc or any helpful tips on it

Yes...will likely lower ph without buffers added

Up to a third of your mix can be compost

Saturate; run off is a waste of water imo

Yes but that defeats the purpose of using vermicompost; nutrients derived from dissolved salts will slowly kill off the microbes in the ewc. Just use straight coco as a sterile medium if you plan to use heavy nutes anyway. Coconut husk is inert/ ph neutral; Thee main reason why it’s good as a hydro medium.

Most peeps around here are growing in a living soil mix...my advice is to decide to grow in full organic soil or just grow in coco. Soil mixes are ph balanced; in coco or any inert hydro medium you’ll need to check and adjust ph each feeding/watering.

Yeah coco works best if you treat it like hydro mate. Soon as you start putting amendments in it your opening the potential for all sorts of dramas.
You sound like youd be better off with soil.
