coco pot size advice

Hey guys iv just finished building a wardrobe
2.2x1.1 x1.1


This is a 2 plant vertical scrog with 2 x 600w hps bare bulbs
grow and iv just started the beans , 2× ghs super lemon haze
Each
Each plant will be yielding 1 - 1.5 Lb per plant and I was wondering if anyone has a sort of formula they use with
*yield to litres of coco or
*watts to litres of coco
Im thinking of using 2x 20L buckets

I believe it is 4 liters to a gallon, so those would be 5 gallon pots..that seems undersized. I used to use 600 watt bulbs and I did 4 x 3 gallon pots (12 liter?), and then I switched to 1000s and started using 4 x 5 gallon pots. So that equation would be 2 gallon (8 liter) per 100 watts.

I think if youre going to be doing 1 plant per each 600 you oughta go bigger, especially with the ambitious goal of 1-1.5 lbs per plant.

yeah the 2 plants are sharing the two lights so basically 600w per plant , from what iv read it seems some guys with alot of experience recomend 1L to 1 ounce and be watering 3 times a day , but thats a tiny pot for a l.8m plant withtgat much bud, might start with a 5 gal (25L) and once dialled in experiment a bit

It depends on how long you veg! And to pull a pound from a 600w you'll need to veg pretty damn long.

Its a 9 week strain , when I put 2 in flower I will take 2 cuttings and the will be flowered 9 weeks later ,
Sounds strange I know , but where I live the penalties for growing are pretty serious if your caught with 5 or more

I dont think there is too much light as the canopy is 1.8 m tall and 0.8 diameter , thats 4.5m2 canopy with 2 sativas and 9 week veg , they should cover that area just fine

3 gallons is big enough for a 6ft girl. Plants prefer small pots with coco and yield awesome when they're a bit rootbound.

Probably not , but it doesnt hurt to try, iv turned it in to a bit of an experiment to see which strain will suit the best and I am now running 3 plants for the first run

I'm running pretty much the same setup, just scaled down a bit. If you're using smart pots 5 gal should be good...7 gal might be better.

i grew a 15oz plant in a 20l pot but it was utterly root bound and the plants health suffered, it also required watering twice daily in mid flower which was a pain in the ass, had it been in a bigger pot i feel the plant would have yielded more and been in better health

my last run i used 150l nft tanks filled with 3 bags of coco, i got over 700g of dry buds from one plant, the plant got so big i had to put the lights around it rather than over so it was sort of vert set up lol.

Coco does well in 1 gallon pots, less veg time. Mine are on an ebb and flow and roots grow out the drainage holes. Lots of feeding and roots dont need as much space.

whilst i agree coco does well in a 1 gal pot try growing a 25 oz plant in one.

imo 20l pots with around 4 weeks of veg will get you a gram per watt in coco. the most efficient balance of weight and cycles per year.

I just happen to be in week 4 of veg with 1 gals. I have 3 gal pots but am confused.....do u grow one plant only?

i was talking to the original poster, he wants to grow 2 plants at a time and wants them big, whilst i think more smaller plants makes more sense i was trying to give him advice on how to grow big plants in coco which is what he wanted to know.

4 weeks of veg in a 1 gal pot is too long in my opinion, you would see better growth in a bigger pot but i don't now your situation

Yeah there seems to be alot of different opinions to pot sizein coco but I guess this is because of the many different water frequencies that can be used for success , I tend to lean towards the high frequency of 3-5waterings per day witch alot of growers would call root bound , but many a growers would call a recipe for success and high yield, I have 3 indicas around a 600w (vert scrog ) 4 weeks in flower drinking 2x per day and getting thirstier by the day , I like this technique and the massive budmass its producing , and im going to use the 1 ounce per litre of coco formula as my goal ,
And with a goal of about 2.5 lb for 2x600w (40 ounce -40L ) im going to use 3x15 L first run and 2x20L there on out .
