To eliminate fungus gnats in coco, fill your containers with the coco and then drench each container with a solution of hydrogen peroxide/hot water (10ml/1gal). I use hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy (3%) and the hottest water I can draw from the sink (way to hot for the hands). Water in solution until 30% runoff is achieved. Let containers sit for a few days, then flush each container with a typical buffering solution (Water/CalMag).
Say goodbye to any larvae that were anxiously waiting to hatch

Nice I may end up trying this out as well on my first Coco grow.

So you are doing this before u plant seeds or plants. Or u do this when plant is still in medium ?

Before using a new batch of coco, prior to planting.

The gnats usually come from larvae that was in your medium. All mediums should be suspect. Since coco is inert, we can flush to kill anything that we don't want in our media.

If you have a bbq, you can cook it for 40 min on low.. kills eggs also.

I drench/soak all coco with bti ..aka mosquito dunks crushed..left in 5 gal bucket ..48 hours.. after drench/soak.. buffer with calmag at 150%. Then flush with nutes.. add plant.. get yellow sticky paper and i keep a gallon of bti water for top drench every 2-3 weeks. I also put grow rocks on top. You will get gnats at some point so prepare.

But on a lighter side, prepare for awesome results.

I use jacks pro 5-12-26 with calnit. Cheap and good. You can also use megacrop 2 part, or masterblend. Get a scale.
