Hoy. Haven't posted in quite a bit for the season was over. But I figure I'll post some relevant stuff that I found with my indoor growings.
Now, I searched around the forums to see that I was not being redundant in my postings, and I found nothing on this topic that didn't get disregarded and thrown out, essentially. Minds aren't open. Or they just don't know. Or they just don't have the seeds to kill a plant (Zing!).
Anyway. My plants were suffering a rapid Phosphorus deficiency. I used seabird guano 10-10-2. I tried a little tea brew made from it for I knew it had to be quick. No dice.
So I'm drinking coconut water. Pondering. Then I pour some on...what the hell, these plants are for the sake of knowledge anyway. Buns to doing the same thing the same way all the time. Buns indeed.
Long story short, my plants recovered basically overnight.
Long story. Coconut water has an awesome amount of Phosphorus. Coconut water has sufficient amounts of Magnesium and Calcium. (CalMag anybody?) These are available in salt form. (Not the salt many of you are likely thinking of, but I'm on the Organic section, so you should be aware.) The amount of buildup is likely the same or much less than your average liquid fertilizer. Microbes aren't an issue, in my experience. (Do you see all sorts of funky shit around the base of Coconut trees? Nope. IN FACT...you usually see grass. Even in their most favored of habitat : desert island. Sandland. I imagine it even helps beneficial fungi. Now I'm not saying go gung-ho and water your plants with coconut water. I used a little bit. A tablespoon or two. Consider that not every coconut breaks and spills into the ground around it. So. Use it as needed for pretty much what I just explained. I really can't see anything more wrong with it than liquid ferts that are essentially just salts and molasses and all those sugary additives. Can you?
Oh. And you shouldn't use ones with concentrates or flavors or added sugars. Naked is a good brand, even though they are PepsiCo :/. Really I don't know. But it does apply to the ones you drink. You are closer to plants than you think.
Maybe I'm just full of shit.
I will try to get some pictorial experiments so we can see the results. I believe my soil is deficient, so hopefully I can soon torture some plants and fix 'em up again.
I do wish I could see the results in the benefits to soil fungi. Cause I really believe it could be true. But I'd have to take it to a lab. And I don't feel like doin that. So too bad.
'Till next time!
