Cold resistant strains

Hey guys, well I live in texas, so our winters dont really get that cold, and I was hoping to maybe get a couple seeds out in late feburary, so that I could get some bud at the spring harvest time. I cant grow inside so outdoors is only options, so I was wondering if you guys knew of any good cold resistant strains. Temps dont really get that cold, maybe like 40's at night, if that... and like 60-70 during the day.

Thanks for all the help guys

bump for the night, I would really like to find some of these strains.

By the way, if a cat tries to parachute from a plane, it wont land on its feet. ( just sometin to think about )

i think if you had a strain that flowers with age and not by light schedule and can withstand cold you will be able to pull it off otherwise you cant do a normal strain unless you pull it indoors to change the light schedule evryday.
the idea is to plant in April/May and then let it grow till September or October depending on strain. or you can plant it in june or july for smaller plants if thts the case. but it wont flower till the days start getting shorter unless you have some sort of strain that auto flowers or somthing.

i've successfully flowered lots of strains outside in the chilly early spring (late feb-april) we have. haven't found anything that can't handle it yet, even with some frost. it might be better to ask who knows from experience what strains don't like the chill.

dude Tokes what are you talking about????????????? lmao

The days get shorter during the spring as well as in the fall.... im guessing you didnt know this, becuase not many people can harvest during this time of year, becuase the temps are to low. However as I said, I live in southern texas, and our winters arent really that cold. Look at my grow journal for instance. Those plants were outdoors, and they started flowering at the end of march. I harvest in June. So... theres some new information for ya = )

Now as for the cold strains lol, because thats what I want to know.

Jdiddy thanks for the ATF suggestion, I might ask mogie about those, because I know she has grown in a couple times.

7xstall how cold does it usually get where you are? What state do you live in?

Knowm, it gets like 40's at night, on a cold night. Days are like high 60's low 70's

OK, just for clarification... the days *start* getting shorter on June 21 (summer solstice, the longest day of the year; the days get progressively shorter until Dec 21 (winter solstice); there are two periods half way between those that are called "equinox", that's when the days and nights are 12/12. With that out of the way, there are several great strains. ATF would be a good one, even tho most AK weed is grown indoors. BC Northern Lights would be a primo one. MJ is a very hardy plant and can take outdoor temps down into the 40's very well.

potpimp lol.... thats all I have to say

Thanks for the strain inputs tho, that was helpful.

I was thinking that most bc strains would be a little bit better off with colder temps? Would I be right in assuming this?

Great thread jack. ive learned some things. haha! potpimps got it down. now a question at what point do plants revert back to veg after getting to long of a light cycle? this could be a major thing to look out for any one going with the spring harvest. also do you plan on chopping the hole plant after harvest? or are you going to let them reveg and go after a fall harvest also? this ATF sounds pretty damn good. im researching more about it after reading this thread. Good luck on your grow! same to everyone!

Ditto Knowm, this thread might end up with hundreds of posts, lol...where I am, NE PA coldest day, -5F, coldest night -15F to -25F, only for a week or two but brrrrrr in February usually. Makes me glad I'm not further north.:hump: I forget who breeds ATF, possibly Federation. But there's definitely a bunch of cold ones, cuz some people in BC and Holland have breeded colder strains for their climates too. Maybe Rollitup knows this one too...:peace:

Hey Jack, I know you can't grow inside, and you probably know this too, but some people grow inside for veg/beginning of flower, and then finish flower outside (down South) in February to April before it gets too humid down there, thus, no bud rot. Some people do that up here in PA too, but, they put em out in late April/early May, after germing/vegging them indoors in Jan/Feb and harvest by end of June/beg. July before the global humidity creeps it's way up here. That Lowlife Seeds is now on some sites, like t0k3s says above. They're on Dr. Chronic's site already too. 10 weeks from seed to harvest, but only like 2 feet high and maybe an oz per plant, I think.

alaskan thunderfuck
I found this in the Urban Dictionary also....lol...
An intense, fast-paced, unforgiving experience of sexual intercourse. Side effects include, but are not limited to: stomach ache, headache, muscle contractions involuntary convulsions, partial paralaysis, or even death. The reciever of the alaskan thunderfuck may also experience bowel or vaginal disorders for 4-7 days. If said disorders last longer than this time period, a doctor or physician should be consulted.
ATF in a sentence---Kim found herself in rehab after experiencing the Alaskan Thunderfuck.
