colorado helicopters?

Does Colorado use helicopters to search out people who have outdoor crops like other states? Im thinking of purchasing some land in southern Co to do what growing im more used to. I know its not the right time of year but I want to get prepared for next year and that means starting around Jan. 1st

I do have a card so it would be legal and all but I read stories of cops in Ca. grabbing ppl oudoor grows even though they were legal too.

In a word: Yes. Colorado Springs recently(within the past 8 months) even used the DEA with a small plane to over fly a warehouse with FLIR to see the heat signature of the building. They subsequently raided the building. Here's the link to that thread-

The problem with outdoor grows of any size: Smell and heat signature. The odor draws all kinds of attention and the heat signature of the plants is easy to see. Now imagine a giant field like that in a state park. And yes, so-called law-enforcement officers are also a problem. They are either ignorant or corrupt, or both. Good luck!

thanks mac, Im planning on being in a pretty rural area and the lot is 181 acres so Im not too worried about ppl on the ground searching them out Im was more concerned with how active they are with searching out ppls outdoor plants.

Just so you know , NO grows outdoors in Colorado are legal . If you have a medical grow in Colorado , it is supposed to be indoors .

Ya do it at your own risk, basically it applies with all the smoking rules, must be in a private location out of view and smell of the public in any way-basically reducing you to a greenhouse or indoors.The law doesn't exactly say indoors only, but most of us dont have the land to be able to fight the "nobody can see or smell it" because like Macguyver said, a corrupt cop can smell weed a mile away, regardless if its physically possible. Cant trust the government to follow the rules, they make them...

I would suggest making a greenhouse to stop spider mites and bugs anyways, then you get around the "outdoor" problem and are still getting outdoor light and yield, you can also use the lights and equipment you already bought to help boost the grow

Personally I would dig a deep box like for a basement and recess the greenhouse so you get some geothermal warmth for the plants and a lower profile from thieves and cops. If you can afford that much land, you can afford to dig some of it out and plop some concrete in there.

Can you cite a source? I don't see anything in A20 that restricts indoor or outdoor grows.

Exactly right...There is nothing stating exactly either way, it is very vague. There is nothing about growing at all except for this...

Its states (4)

(a) A patient may engage in the medical use of marijuana, with no more marijuana than is medically necessary to address a debilitating medical condition. A patient's medical use of marijuana, within the following limits, is lawful:
(I) No more than two ounces of a usable form of marijuana; and

(II) No more than six marijuana plants, with three or fewer being mature, flowering plants that are producing a usable form of marijuana.

(b) For quantities of marijuana in excess of these amounts, a patient or his or her primary care-giver may raise as an affirmative defense to charges of violation of state law that such greater amounts were medically necessary to address the patient's debilitating medical condition.
(5)

(a) No patient shall:
(I) Engage in the medical use of marijuana in a way that endangers the health or well-being of any person; or

(II) Engage in the medical use of marijuana in plain view of, or in a place open to, the general public.

(b) In addition to any other penalties provided by law, the state health agency shall revoke for a period of one year the registry identification card of any patient found to have willfully violated the provisions of this section or the implementing legislation adopted by the general assembly.

So get a lawyer who specializes in MMJ and ask them. It is open to interpretation, but can be lumped into the "medical use" laws of MMJ if i had to guess.

I grew on a very secluded 90 acre parcel in SW Colorado last summer. Around July 1 I started noticing overflights. I was within the limits of our legal plant count but this was well in excess of the federal forfieture guidlines. I never got raided or even inspected but was always expecting for it to happen and tried to stay ready. It was really difficult to deal with the stupid rule wherein you can only have 1/2 of your crop in flower. I was growing over 40 different strains and they would flower when they got damn good and ready.........some of them started as early as the middle of June when the days were still getting longer. They just wouldn't listen to me when I told them that they were breaking the law.
