Combining MH & CFL Lights

I have a 4 X 5 X 6 room, but I only have a 400 watt MH set up. I also have (6)4' CFL bulbs & fixtures. Is there a down side to adding CFL tubes to my room to help "liven" things up? I also have a HPS bulb. I intend to buy another ballast for the HPS and add CFL's to the box I build to flower. The plants in the grow bags are White Widow and New Purple Power, planted on the 2nd of sept. is in the plastic cups.
Any info on my plants is appreciated, Thanks.

i have a similar setup 4x4x4 box with a 400mh. i have added 12 cfls sorry i forget the wattage right now but i had 1 mother plant and 15 babies and they all grew just fine. aslong as the spectrem is correct it will be a nice adjustment. no downside to more lighting i.m.o

this is an interesting idea, haven't seen this combination used, cfl's have their best performance down in the red, combining with 2700k for flower could be interesting - never know what you might see for a result

I want to use CFL in both both rooms MH & HPS, for (electric conservation) so I guess that means I'm gonna need warm and cool temp lights. Im guessing it could be an advantage using CFLs in my MH & HPS rooms due to the fact that I can put the CFLS closer and possibly penetrate into the lower leaves better???

the best grows i see here are typically HPS up high, and cfl's down low

I also have a 400wt MH..I've flowered with it only 2ice the buds were large and plentyfull...My area is 3'x3'x about 7'...I added 6-42 watt warm cfls and there is a noticable diff.....Alot more hairs at this stage of flower(3 weeks) and the buds give the impresion they will be denser.... I place the cfls just below the tops and the lower buds R really developing quickly...If U have an MH HID add warm cfls as many as U can it wont hurt at all...But I 2 want to add a HPS to the mix 4 sure...

Thats a nice set up. I have 4' Florescent Tubes. I plan on putting as many as I can along the sides of my box. I don't know if Im trying to over do it for my first grow?
