compost and farm manure

starting my second outdoor grow this year, wanna go organic this year

would the above mix of compost and manure be enough to feed the plant untill harvest?

and what mix should use?

what i was going to do was mix the full bag of compost with half the manure, dig a hole in the forest and fill with my mix and my young plants, and leave til harvest time.

am i on the right track or should i be doing anything else

you have to let the manure compost for a few months before you plant in it, fresh shit in a high ratio like that is WAY to hot for marijuana to grow in.

yea, cut the ratio wayyy back! I started out using a mix of 3 pots potting soil to one part manure. I've killed several young plants w/ that mix PLUS it's not airy enough for the roots. This was a test procedure by me to try and see what the plants could stand. Lat year I mixed up sphagnum peat moss, blood meal, organic potting soil and worm castings, which turned out pretty good, and wanting more I thought I'd try this manure/soil mix to try and get 'em used to a high nitro level so I could give em alot during the veg. months, and therefore increase their size accordingly, but my mix (1/3) was too much and I'm now left w/ the fact that I need to go back to what I used last year and maybe just add slightly more of the nitrogen containing ingredients!

I've heard that as little as a week of compost time is enough to kill off any virus or bacteria and even seeds in manure.

s**t! i didnt know that. im supposed to be getting my seeds next week.

what about if i just put compost into the hole were the plant is going to go and then later on when it gets bigger, i just put a handfull of manure on top, or maybe a handfull of bone meal or something like that.

what do you think?

I too have been researching compost and manuers for organic growing. I've read that cow manure can be used fresh and does not need to break down like the "hot" manuers? Can't remember where i found that but i'll try to get a link.

Dude, don't take the chance in burning your plants. You can buy cheap cow compost from Lowes for 1.39 a bag. I used Evergreen cow compost & dolemite lime last year and had great results. I used the same cow compost for compost tea through out my entire grow. All my plants got was compost tea made with the same Evergreen Cow Compost.
