Was using a product called schultzs with a 20/20/20, used it every watering period, regular strenght during the veg as well as flowering cycle, plants were doing great, third week into flowering they took a dive, steady downhill, flushed thinking it was nute burn, had to pull 3 of my 5 ladies, they were completely dead, found out I had a mite problem and am in process of getting rid of em, this is week 8 of flowering although I personally feel this isn't gonna turn out good, gonna proceed till the end as a learning experience, got a couple of clones to start out fresh. In the meantime I bought some sensi grow & bloom both parts A & B for the second try, I know the plants need certain nutes at different cycles (veg & flowering) but the sensi bloom part A is only 4/0/4 & B 1/5/6, I was under the impression the plants need a lot more nutes than this product is giving.

If you put the new plants in with the old ones, they're going to get mites, too. You should be able to see them on the underside of the leaves.

They're not too bad of a problem to deal with, but you've gotta deal with them early. There are lots of commercial products out there. I've found that home remedies work just as well. 1tsp dish soap and 1tbs canola oil per liter of water sprayed generously under your leaves should do a good job at preventing mites.

You've just gotta be proactive with that stuff. Don't wait to until it's too late.

All the numbers mean is the aval. % of the element listed in the bottle.

So 20-20-20 of 1-5-6 just means 20% of the liquid is aval. nitrogen, 20% is phosphorus, and 20% potassium or 1% nitrogen, 5% Phos., 6% Pot. you get the idea.

Anyway these are very misleading as you can have something with low numbers, but just as much actual ppm of the element required. As generally the higher number stuff is more concentrated so figure if something is 5-5-5 and something else is 20-20-20 you might use 5ml of the 5-5-5 but only 1ml of the 20-20-20

This is just a overall example and me trying to type it / sum it up as best I can..... but its a basic layout of how the NPK numbers are actually figured and what they are meant to represent.

For the mites : when I found out it was mites they had already got a foothold cuz I was thinking it was a nute problem.I found a reciept on this website using habenera peppers to kill the mites 4-5 peppers chopped finely simmer in 1 pint of aqua for 20 minutes let cool, put in sprayer. Seems as if their gone on 1 plant but gonna give the other plant a spritzes 2 might. I forgot to mention to wear a breath mask or towel across your nose and eyes with latex gloves.
As to the nutes : does that mean in order to get the 20/20/20/ I would have to use 4 does of the 5/5/5? sorry about being ignorant about this but I would like to understand it.

NO 4 doses of 5-5-5 would not equal 20-20-20 as far as they are % of aval. nute goes..... but for ppm levels in a given volume 4 doses of 5-5-5 may equal the same ppm as 1 dose of 20-20-20 pending various factors.


So 1ml @ 20-20-20 per gallon = 500ppm is equal to roughly 4ml of 5-5-5 per gallon to get same 500 ppm. kinda..... although that is not like a rule of thumb or something to go by, just me trying to make the example.... basically the 5-5-5 @ 1ml would make 125ppm where 1ml of 20-20-20 makes 500ppm.

This is why the numbers are misleading as the npk ratios are rated in % avail. in the product itself... so a highly concentrated product like M.G. Bloom Booster or Peter's 20-20-20 might only need 1 tsp. a gallon where as like my CNS-17 @ 2-2-3 or the CNS Ripe @ 1-6-5 requires 25ml a gallon or 5tsp. to roughly make the same ppm in a given volume as 1 tsp. of the Peters would even though they both have drastically different npk numbers.

I hope that make sense..... I am not ummm very good at explaining this maybe someone else can clean it up a little bit or relate it in a different fashion but I hope it helps.
