Confusion on Harvest

I am sorry in advance that I do not have any pictures.

Recently, I started looking at the trichomes on my phat lil babies. The trichomes are mostly cloudy, about 7-8 in 10. There are still a few trichomes that are clear and none that I have seen that are amber. The pistils on the lower buds almost all have changed color and receded into the calyx and the calyx has swelled, but the top of the plant only has about 50% of the pistil that have changed color and the calyxes have swelled.

My confusion is that since I did a cross pollination (experiment) to make my own strain I must have had some residual pollen that have cause some seeds to form in this cycle. The seeds are camouflaged, mature and the seed bract has split open. This indicates to me that the plant is ready for harvest, or even that its towards the end of the harvest window, but the top seems to have white pistils covering the top inch or so. Totally confused.

Your input would be greatly appreciated and this is time sensitive.

Harvesting by trichome color helps you chop at the right time for the maximum THC. Whether or not the plant is ready to drop seeds isn't really the issue. You don't have any amber, so just be patient. As for the white pistils, that's an indicator in the absence of checking trichomes, but it's faulty. Many plants, including the ones I'm growing right now, continue to put out white pistils even if the trichomes are turning amber.

Go with the trichomes.

Unless you have about 5 to 10 years growing experience, leave the breeding to the professionals. I tried it too - total fucking disaster. Too messy unless you have dedicated male chambers.

Dually noted, my friend. I was just tinkering around and went by some suggestion that I read up on. I have been doing outdoor for 15 years and indoor for just past 3 years, so it definitely takes trial and error. I wish I had the space for male chambers but I don't. This bud, from the seeds of the plants I crossed, is super stinky and sweet smelling like berries. What is a good way to do the cross pollination?
