If you mean spawning to an outdoor patch, I have no expertese there. But I would say just drop a bunch of spent/colonized subs in the ground and case with some wood chips or something. Maybe lay down a sheet of cardboard and put colonized wood chips on it. Then let nature do the rest. Make sure it has enough RH for the mushrooms to fruit though, which will be hard this time of year, unless your using cyancens, which usually fruit before the first frost/after the first frost, can't remember right.

What is rh? And this wont be going on till next year after it starts to get warm again.

You can try starting out with bulk but I highly recommend starting off with the PF Tek. A lot guys, especially accomplised cannabis growers, go right to bulk and become discouraged if it doesn't work out the first time. I have seen successful first time bulk grows, but more often than not people run into problems. PF Tek can actually be quite productive. I usually average 2oz dry from 8 cakes in two flushes. If you are mainly doing it for your headaches, I would imagine even an ounce would last several months at least.

Those "Let's Grow Mushrooms" videos are a great step by step tutorial. It says on the website they are only preview, but I'm pretty sure the first 4 videos (PF Tek) are the full videos. They also have them up on youtube.

I don't think you would want to deal with an outdoor bed, too many variables to conclude that you will actually get a harvest. Just stick to indoor man, it's really not that hard at all to get a fully functioning myco-garden going. All you need is a glove box, fruiting chamber, and an incubator. As long as you know what you're doing you will have no problem at all!

When I was first starting out I used mycotopia. Their Vaults has been a tremendous resource. The people there are a lot more helpful to beginners than, say, shroomery, where they are most likely going to be rude and tell you to use the search function. Basically, your fruiting chamber (FC) is a controlled environment where you can supply high humidity, but keep adequate fresh air intake (FAE). For cakes, a clear rubbermaid tub with dozens of small holes drilled in the side with moist perlite at the bottom is the easiest way to go I think. It's known as a shotgun fc. The dual chamber terrarium you might see reference to is pretty much antiquated.

For me, getting used to all the new terms and acronyms was one of the most difficult parts. Not to mention the life cycle of fungi is much different than plants.

The spores are legal to buy, sell, or possess. They are sold for "microscopic research." In only becomes illegal when you use them to grow. There are several reliable online vendors here in the US who will gladly send you spores in the mail as long as you don't live in CA, GA, or ID. Sort of like in the UK where seeds are legal but it is a criminal offense to germinate them.

aborts are the tiny shrooms that didn't mature...usually have tiny black caps...handle with respect....hth

Is there a study anywhere on if the aborts have been proven to be more potent than the fully fruited ones?

From my readings this far the aborts are said to be less potent. Guess I will find out soon enough,gonna get my order in here 2m for my syringes! Stoked to guide my own journey with a little help from you all
