Try it your self and cut back the water to one plant by 50% you can expect a 50% increase in 'oils'
as you may know oil/terps are the protection against sun damage and drying out(UV)

IMO always water by weight, once that weight is down to 25% of the previous I water

Best Time To Water? ...after many bruises we consult the horts who say 1630 hrs

Why Not 1620?? Ha.

I certainly don't want to keep the top of the soil damp, but I try to prevent them from getting completely dried out. It's a fine line to walk for sure.

The sips are pretty cool, but it sounds like you have to water more than you think. I saw a thread tonight, where they had to do it daily. Looked great though. I think it was @myke .
This would depend on the size of your sip. My 15 gal earthboxes would need water every 2-4 days in veg and 1-3 in flower. I’m looking to building some 30 gal sips shortly. No worries of overwatering as your medium is always moist.

+1 for SIPs just got to build them with a big enough rez. You can also make an external rez to top them off via float valves, etc.

I keep going back & forth on whether to run SIPs with a 'cap' or 'lid' versus just leave them open at top and let it be like nature - that top layer then only gets moist if I happen to top feed some extra love or a compost tea, etc.

I dont see any benefit to letting the top dry in a sip.The EWC goes hard and becomes useless.

Blumats FTW. but only after establishing the root system. I usually set mine up around week 3 after doing a good wet/dry schedule and then its consistent feeding the rest of the way till finish. Great results with coco and super soil.

You should never purposely put stress on your plants. Your asking for trouble. Keep your plants moist. Make sure you have adequate drainage that will provide 10-15% runoff

My plants love constant moisture from the blumats.
I'm of the opinion you don't want runoff or just a few a drops if any if your in super soil. In coco I know you want lots of runoff, but I don't think you do in amended soil, I think you will wash out some of your nutrients .
Just my 2 cents
Keep it moist

I’ve used flora series for decades and floralicious last 28 days of flower. I mix my nutes in my water tanks with constant circulation water every 3 days with runoff. I average 5-7 oz. per plant. Your looking at some Afghan, Sunset Sherbet, Zkittles and Purple Larry’s
